SUMMARY:A World Without the Islamic Republic of Iran
DESCRIPTION:  \n[READ TRANSCRIPT HERE] \n  \nWhile much of the international community focuses its attention on the Israel/Hamas war and the Houthis disruption of maritime traffic in the Red Sea\, the head of the snake that is terrorizing the world\, the Islamic Republic of Iran\, is being ignored at the world’s peril. In a recent Middle East Forum report\, Jonathan Spyer wrote\, “Iran has operated a network of proxy terrorist and militia groups across the Middle East and beyond for decades. They recently activated many of them and sparked the conflagration engulfing much of the Middle East and wreaking havoc on global commerce.” He and co-author Jim Hanson concluded that only when the free world aims to overthrow the Islamist regime in Iran will Iranians\, other Middle Easterners and people throughout much of the world be able to enjoy peace and prosperity. Join us for an in-depth discussion with Jonathan Spyer on key takeaways from his report including the main Iranian surrogates known as the “Axis of Resistance\,” the Israel/Hamas war in the context of Iran\, and Iran’s malign impact on the region. \nAbout the Speaker: Jonathan Spyer is a British-Israeli analyst\, writer\, and journalist of Middle Eastern affairs. He is director of research at the Middle East Forum\, editor of Middle East Quarterly magazine\, a fellow at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security\, a freelance security analyst and correspondent for Jane’s Information Group\, and a columnist for The Jerusalem Post. He is the author of Days of the Fall: A Reporter’s Journey in the Syria and Iraq Wars and The Transforming Fire: The Rise of the Israel-Islamist Conflict.

SUMMARY:Why Must Israel Continue to Fight in Gaza
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n  \n[READ TRANSCRIPT HERE] \n  \nIsrael has faced mounting pressure from the international community as well as from the Biden administration not to finish the job it has begun in Gaza. On Thursday\, while speaking over the phone with Prime Minister Netanyahu\, President Biden said that “an immediate ceasefire is necessary to protect innocent civilians.” An administration official reported that President Biden is very agitated over the killing of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers. \nWhile speaking in Selma\, Alabama in early March Vice President Kamala Harris called for “an immediate cease-fire” in Gaza.  One week ago\,  addressing the Israel-Hamas War\, the Vice President also warned “We have been very clear. It would be a mistake to move into Rafah\, if there would be a military operation”. Asked if the Vice President would be ruling out that there would be consequences if Israel were to invade Rafah\, Ms. Harris said\, “I am ruling out nothing.” \nBeyond that\, some analysts have argued that Israel cannot ever complete the job of eradicating Hamas and that Israel’s operations in Gaza have led to a huge uptick in worldwide antisemitism. \nYet\, last week\, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a visiting Congressional delegation\, that Rafah was “the last stronghold” of Hamas\, and that Israel was “weeks away from victory” in its last existential war against Hamas. The Prime Minister made the analogy to World War II\, saying “leaving a part of the Nazi army in place\, and saying don’t go there..like  leaving a quarter of the German army in place in Berlin.” \nAnd in recent polls\, the vast majority of Israelis support completing the mission in Gaza. \nHere to explain the Israeli position\, and why winning this war is so important\, not just for Israel’s security\, but for all the West\,  is Brigadier General Amir Avivi (Res.) of the Israeli Defense Forces. \nAbout the Speaker: Brigadier General (Ret.) Amir Avivi is the Founder and CEO of Israel’s Defense and Security Forum (IDSF) which is comprised of more than 22\,000 senior reserve/retired officers\, commanders\, and operators from all branches of the Israeli security establishment. Retired from the IDF after more than 30 years of military\, counter-terrorism\, and national security experience\, he held various command positions in the Corps of Engineers leading thousands of soldiers in a dynamic environment combating terrorism. \nBrigadier General Amir Avivi (ret.) concluded his service as the Head of the Auditing and Consulting Department of the Israeli Defense Establishment\, (including the Israel Defense Force\, the Ministry of Defense and Israeli Military Industries). In that position\, Avivi managed more than 100 military auditors and advisors. He was responsible for the audit of military readiness\, budgeting\, procurement\, projects\, bids\, cyber\, logistics\, infrastructure and operations. Avivi fulfilled various command positions in the Corps of Engineers leading thousands of soldiers in a dynamic combat environment. \nAvivi served as Brigade commander\, Deputy Division commander and head of the Military School of Engineers. He also served as the aide-de-camp for the Chief of the General Staff of the IDF\, Lt. General Moshe “Bogie” Yaalon. \nAvivi was at the heart of the policy making process in the Israeli Government and Defense establishment during that term. Avivi also serves as the Principal of the New State Solution working group. Avivi is the Founder & CEO of Habithonistim.

SUMMARY:The View from Israel: An Interview with Member of the Knesset Ohad Tal
DESCRIPTION:  \n[READ TRANSCRIPT HERE] \n  \nSince its founding\, Israel has been fighting enemies who have continually sought its annihilation but today’s wars – military\, cognitive\, and diplomatic – are presenting an existential threat unlike anything it has confronted since perhaps 1973. While the Islamic Republic of Iran has unleashed not just proxies in the form of Hamas’ attack on October 7th\, Hezbollah’s 150\,000 missiles aimed at the country\, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terrorist organizations infiltrating the West Bank; in an unprecedented attack\, it has now directly joined the war to destroy the Jewish homeland. While 133 hostages\, both dead and alive\, remain captive in Hamas’ terror tunnels\, Israelis are moving back to divisive rhetoric as to exactly how to bring them home and its war cabinet that united former political foes appears to be possibly fracturing with its own disagreements. On top of it all\, while the U.S. initially seemed to actually have Israel’s back\, the Biden administration’s own domestic political calculations have led to very dangerous daylight between the U.S. and Israel that seemingly emboldens Israel’s enemies. Joining us to discuss all of this from the perspective of a Member of the Knesset is MK Ohad Tal. \nAbout the Speaker: MK Ohad Tal is an Israeli politician who serves as a Member of Knesset for the Religious Zionist Party. He Chairs the Knesset Committee for Public Enterprises and is a Member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense\, Finance\, and Immigration\, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Knesset Committees. \nMK Tal was elected to the 25th Knesset following the 2022 general elections\, after serving for many years in several high-level positions in the non-formal Jewish education and diaspora relations arenas. \nUnder his tenure as Chairman of the Knesset Committee for Public Enterprises\, the Committee passed laws whose main purpose is to lower the cost of living in Israel and reduce regulation and bureaucracy in the financial system as well as developing and securing a Jewish presence in the Negev and the Galilee areas. \nMK Tal is an active member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee\, and from the beginning of Operation Iron Swords he has led several initiatives to secure Israel’s military and security position. \nHe Chairs the Knesset Caucus for U.S. – Israel Relations and is the Chair of the parliamentary friendship caucus with Australia\, Guatemala and Honduras. \nMK Tal holds both an Executive MBA in Public Policy and Administration from Hebrew University and a BA in Education Administration from Bar Ilan University. \nHe is married to Tamar (nee Shachel)\, the director of finance and human resources at the “Daat” network of high schools and religious youth villages. The couple has four children\, and they live in Efrat in the Judean Hills.
