SUMMARY:National Security Implications of America’s Open Border Crisis
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \nAmerica is facing an unprecedented crisis of illegal immigration due to President Biden’s open border policies and failure to enforce our country’s immigration laws with potentially catastrophic consequences to our national security. America has never faced such a mass migration crisis in which quite likely more than 10 million migrants have illegally swarmed our Southern border and been permitted to freely enter the country. More “gotaways” than in the previous decade combined have joined them\, skyrocketing by close to 400% since President Biden has been in office\, while perhaps untold numbers of others may have also slipped in. Frighteningly\, an impossible to know number of individuals on the terrorist watchlist have also snuck into the country with over 350 since Biden took office stopped at the Southern border. In fact\, federal agents just arrested eight nationals from Tajikistan (the country of origin of the terrorists who murdered 139 people at a concert in Moscow earlier this year) who had been screened at the Southern border and released into the country but who are now believed to have possible ties to ISIS. No one should be surprised given that FBI director Christopher Wray recently testified before Congress about his concerns that criminal and terrorists are streaming in from Latin America. Join us for an important and insightful discussion with expert Todd Bensman on the dangers and vulnerabilities to our country’s national security as a result of the Biden administration’s failure to enforce our immigration laws and secure our border. \nAbout the Speaker: Todd Bensman\, a two-time National Press Club award winner\, currently serves as the Texas-based Senior National Security Fellow for the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS)\, a Washington\, D.C. policy institute for which he writes\, speaks\, and grants media interviews about the nexus between immigration and national security. He frequently reports from the southern border\, in Mexico and in Latin America. He has testified before Congress as an expert witness and regularly appears on radio and television outlets to discuss illegal immigration and border security matters. Separately\, he writes about homeland security and terrorism subjects for Newsweek Magazine\, Homeland Security Today\, The New York Post\, Townhall\, The Federalist\, the Investigative Project on Terrorism\, SpyTalk\, The Daily Wire\, The National Pulse\, The National Interest\, and other publications. He serves as a Writing Fellow for the Middle East Forum and also teaches terrorism\, intelligence analysis\, and journalism as a university adjunct lecturer. He is the author of two books: the 2023 book OVERRUN\, How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History and also America’s Covert Border War: The Untold Story of the Nation’s Battle to Prevent Jihadist Infiltration. For nearly a decade prior to joining CIS in August 2018\, Bensman led counterterrorism intelligence for the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division and its multi-agency fusion center. Before his homeland security service\, Bensman was a journalist for 23 years\, covering national security after 9/11 as a staff writer for major newspapers. You can follow Bensman’s work at www.toddbensman.com.

SUMMARY:Mosab Hassan Yousef\, The son of one of the founders of Hamas\, Sheik Hassan Yousef
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \nIf anyone understands the mentality of Hamas\, and all of the Islamic resistance groups\, it is the son of one of the seven founders of Hamas\, Mosab Hassan Yousef. Otherwise known as “The Green Prince”\, EMET has developed a very close personal relationship with Mosab\, since we honored him in 2010. It is our profound pleasure to be able to interview Mosab\, who has been through a very arduous and difficult journey away from his deep roots within the Muslim Brotherhood\, and its Palestinian branch\, Hamas. \nMosab has been making a great come back lately and has been on many national and international television programs. For example\, please see his brilliant remarks on a recent edition of Piers Morgan. \nMosab will discuss the war in Gaza\, what is happening in southern Lebanon with Hezbollah\, the Iranian and Qatari relationship to Hamas\, and what is taking place within our nation\, particularly on US college campuses. \nAbout the Speaker: Mosab Hassan Yousef was born in Ramallah in 1978. His father\, Sheikh Hassan Yousef\, is a founding leader of Hamas\, internationally recognized as a terrorist organization and responsible for countless suicide bombings and other deadly attacks against Israel. Yousef was an integral part of the movement\, for which he was imprisoned several times by the Shin Bet\, the Israeli intelligence service. He withstood torture in prison only to discover Hamas was torturing its own people in a relentless search for collaborators. He began to question who his enemies really were—Israel? Hamas? America? While in an Israeli prison\, Yousef was approached about becoming a spy for the Shin Bet. Initially\, Yousef accepted it with the idea that he would betray them and in hopes he could use the role to protect his father and family. Later\, as Yousef saw the hypocrisy within Hamas and became a Christian\, he used the position to save lives on both sides of the conflict. Yousef worked as a double agent within Hamas for nearly 10 years. He became a vital intelligence asset for the Israeli government while Yousef served side-by-side with his father within the upper ranks of Hamas. After a chance encounter with a British tourist\, Yousef started a six-year quest that jeopardized Hamas\, endangered his family and threatened his life. He was granted political asylum in the United States. \nHis first book\, part history and part biography\, is called Son of Hamas. He has a new book coming out soon\, called The Last Prophet.

SUMMARY:Confronting the Inevitability of War with Hezbollah
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \nSince October 8th\, the people of northern Israel have been subjected to thousands of rockets\, missiles and drones\, often directly targeting Israeli homes\, schools and civilians. This has left approximately 80\,000 Israelis displaced. Entire families have been living in hotel rooms and temporary housing since October. The residents of northern Israel cannot return to their homes unless there is some semblance of safety and security for their families. Cities like Metula and Kiryat Shmoneh have suffered wide-spread damage\, and look like ghost towns\, shrinking the map of the state of Israel. \nAs this is written\, Germany\, the Netherlands\, Canada\, North Macedonia\, Kuwait and now the United States have all asked their citizens to evacuate Lebanon. A report from The London Times says that Hezbollah is storing weapons in Beirut Airport. This week\, Prime Minister Netanyahu visited members of the 55th Paratroopers Brigade\, and said that the IDF has drawn up meticulous plans and is ready. \nDoes Israel have any other choice but to go to war with Hezbollah?  We know that Hezbollah has at least 150\,000 missiles that can swarm Israeli defense systems. What precautions is the Israeli government putting in place to protect Israeli civilians and their infrastructure? What has Lebanon’s responsibility been as an enabler of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon? Does this conflict have the potential of enlarging itself into a greater war between Iran and its allies and the West? \nHere to discuss these questions and more is Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi. \nAbout Our Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Sarit Zehavi is the Founder and President of the Alma Research and Education Center. She served for 15 years in the Israel Defense Forces Intelligence Corps\, initially in research and analysis and later with the Northern Command\, and has held informative in-depth briefings in Washington\, D.C. with United States senators and representatives to advise them on security developments in Lebanon and Syria. Zehavi is recognized worldwide as an expert authority and impactful speaker on the security issues facing Israel today. She was selected by the Jerusalem Post as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Jewish personalities of 2021.

SUMMARY:Behnam Ben Taleblu on the Elections in Iran
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \nOn Friday\, the people of Iran went to the polls and elected the “moderate reformer” candidate Masoud Pezeshkian\, defeating Ayatollah Khamenei’s favored candidate\, Saeed Jalili\, in a race to replace former President Ebrahim Raisi\, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19th.  The election saw a surge in turnout\, with 53 per cent of the population voting for him.Pezeshkian\, a 69 year old former heart surgeon \, has promised to “open up to the West”\,  and to “bring new hope for diplomacy with Iran.” However\, he has said\, “With the one exception of Israel.”What are the implications for the Iranian nuclear program? How will this effect the proxy war that Iran has been waging against the state of Israel\, using  Hamas\, Hezbollah and the Houthis?   How much autonomy will he actually have from Ayatollah Khameini? How much autonomy from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will Mr. Pezeshkian actually have?  Will Mr. Pezeshkian upend the Islamic Republic’s relationship with Russia\, China and North Korea? Is Mr. Pezeshkian simply a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” vetted by the Iranian Guardian Council\, or an actual reformer? \n\nHere to answer those questions and more is Benham Ben Taleblu.\n\nAbout this speaker: Behnam Ben Taleblu is a senior fellow at FDD where he focuses on Iranian security and political issues. Behnam previously served as a research fellow and senior Iran analyst at FDD. Prior to his time at FDD\, Behnam worked on non-proliferation issues at an arms control think-tank in Washington. Leveraging his subject-matter expertise and native Farsi skills\, Behnam has closely tracked a wide range of Iran-related topics including: nuclear non-proliferation\, ballistic missiles\, sanctions\, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps\, the foreign and security policy of the Islamic Republic\, and internal Iranian politics. Frequently called upon to brief journalists\, congressional staff\, and other Washington-audiences\, Behnam has also testified before the U.S. Congress and Canadian Parliament. \nHis analysis has been quoted in The Washington Post\, The Wall Street Journal\, Reuters\, Fox News\, The Associated Press\, and Agence France-Presse\, among others. Additionally\, he has contributed to or co-authored articles for Foreign Affairs\, Foreign Policy\, Fox News\, The Hill\, War on the Rocks\, The National Interest\, and U.S. News & World Report. Behnam has appeared on a variety of broadcast programs\, including BBC News\, Fox News\, CBS Interactive\, C-SPAN\, and Defense News. Behnam earned his MA in International Relations from The University of Chicago\, and his BA in International Affairs and Middle East Studies from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. \n

SUMMARY:Campus Antisemitism
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \n  \nAs the fall 2024 semester approaches\, it’s not clear what we can expect from student protestors\, outside agitators\, faculty instigators\, and college administrators. Numerous lawsuits have been filed and either settled or are moving through the courts while\, at the same time\, the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights is investigating and settling various complaints that have been filed with it. College administrators are grappling with balancing free speech and academic freedom claims with the civil rights of Jewish students who have been the subject of physical\, mental and verbal abuse that has mostly gone unpunished. Some universities are reconsidering their approach to diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and others are instituting training sessions for employees. Unfortunately\, students are showing no signs of tiring or interest in discontinuing their offense against Jewish students and faculty and the State of Israel and they seem to have deep pockets funding their efforts. Join us for a discussion to unpack all of this with campus expert\, Asaf Romirowsky\, Executive Director of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East and of the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa. \nAbout the Speaker: Asaf Romirowsky Ph.D. is the Executive Director of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) and the  Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa (ASMEA). Romirowsky is also a senior nonresident research fellow at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA) and a Professor [Affiliate] at the University of Haifa. Trained as a Middle East historian he holds a Ph.D. in Middle East and Mediterranean Studies from King’s College London\, UK\, and has published widely on various aspects of the Arab-Israeli conflict and American foreign policy in the Middle East\, as well as on Israeli and Zionist history. \nRomirowsky is co-author of Religion\, Politics\, and the Origins of Palestine Refugee Relief and a contributor to The Case Against Academic Boycotts of Israel. Recently\, he co-edited Word Crimes: Reclaiming the Language of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict\, a special issue of the journal Israel Studies. \nRomirowsky’s publicly engaged scholarship has been featured in The Wall Street Journal\, The National Interest\, The American Interest\, The New Republic\, The Times of Israel\, Jerusalem Post\, Ynet\, and Tablet among other online and print media outlets. \n

SUMMARY:Israel Victory: How Zionists Win Acceptance and Palestinians Get Liberated
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \n  \n“The Palestinian-Israeli conflict will come to an acceptable conclusion only with a Palestinian sense of defeat.” So says\, historian Daniel Pipes who has spent his career studying\, educating\, and writing about the Middle East\, Islam and foreign policy. He started the Israel Victory Project many years ago as a means to finally resolve the conflict and convince the Palestinians to end their war against Israel. Recognizing that only when the Palestinians end their rejectionism can they build a polity\, economy\, society and culture that can live side by side with the Jewish homeland\, Pipes has been the lone voice putting forth this common sense and historically-supported strategy. In his 19th book\, Israel Victory: How Zionists Win Acceptance and Palestinians Get Liberated\, Pipes explains the strategy of how Israel can achieve the victory it so desperately has sought since its founding. We are honored to have the esteemed Daniel Pipes join us for a discussion on how to achieve a final end to the conflict – especially in a post-October 7th world. \nAbout the Speaker: Daniel Pipes is the President of the Middle East Forum. He is a historian\, has and has led the Middle East Forum since its founding in 1994. He taught at Chicago\, Harvard\, Pepperdine\, and the U.S. Naval War College. He served in five U.S. administrations\, received two presidential appointments\, and testified before many congressional committees. The author of 16 books on the Middle East\, Islam\, and other topics\, Mr. Pipes writes a column for the Washington Times and the Spectator; his work has been translated into 39 languages. DanielPipes.org contains an archive of his writings and media appearances; he tweets at @DanielPipes. He received both his A.B. and Ph.D. from Harvard. The Washington Post deems him “perhaps the most prominent U.S. scholar on radical Islam.” Al-Qaeda invited Mr. Pipes to convert and Edward Said called him an “Orientalist.”

SUMMARY:Is there an Inevitability of War with Lebanon?
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nREAD TRANSCRIPT HERE \nIran has vowed to take revenge on Israel for the killing of Ismael Haniya\, in Tehran. Iran’s Supreme Leader\, Sayyed Ali Khameini has vowed to attack Israel saying\, “Following the bitter\, tragic event which took place within our borders of the Islamic Republic\, it is our duty to take revenge.” \nWith the murder of Hamas chieftain Ismael Haniya in Tehran\, and Tuesday’s assassination of the Hezbollah leader\, Fuad Shukr in Beirut\, how likely is a wider escalation of war\, both with Hamas\, with Hezbollah and possibly with the head of the octopus\, Iran? \nIsrael has retaliated\, with strength\, for the heinous attack from Hezbollah\, which resulted in the murder of 12 teenagers and children from the Druze village of Mejdal Shams. \nHas this widened the war that Israel has been fighting since the barbaric atrocities of October 7th on Israel’s south\, which Hezbollah entered into on October 8th? How inevitable is a wider war with Hezbollah\, and possibly Lebanon? Will this primarily be contained to Hezbollah\, or will it involve Lebanon\, and possibly Iran? \nNow\, in the middle of an election season\, with a “lame duck president” within the White House\, will the United States come to Israel’s defense if attacked by Iran? On April 13th\, when Israel was attacked by Iran\, a coalition of countries\, including the United States\, Israel\, Jordan and Great Britain joined to shoot down approximately 300 missiles from the skies over Israel. Is this likely to happen again? \nHere to discuss these issues is David Shenker\, former United States Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs\, under President Donald Trump. \nAbout the Speaker: David Schenker served as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs in the Trump administration through January of 2021. He is the Taube Senior Fellow at The Washington Institute and director of the Linda and Tony Rubin Program on Arab Politics. In that capacity\, he was the principal Middle East advisor to the secretary of state and the senior official overseeing the conduct of U.S. policy and diplomacy in a region stretching from Morocco to Iran to Yemen\, with responsibility for eighteen countries\, the Palestinian Authority\, and Western Sahara. He also supervised more than 9\,000 staff and administered an annual budget in excess of $7 billion. \nIn policy terms\, he led the bureau’s efforts to advance American interests abroad and strengthen U.S. partnerships and alliances across the region. Via diplomacy and the effective allocation of resources and assistance—as well as through imposition of sanctions—he worked to promote human rights\, deter terrorism\, fight corruption\, and push back against regional adversaries. In addition to developing and implementing the U.S. strategy on China in the region\, he worked to heal the Gulf rift between Qatar and neighboring states\, resolve intractable conflicts in Libya and Yemen\, consolidate the Abraham Accords\, and counter malign Iranian influence in the Middle East. \nPrior to joining the State Department\, Schenker worked as the Aufzien Fellow and director of the Beth and David Geduld Program on Arab Politics at The Washington Institute from 2006 to 2019. During that period\, he authored dozens of op-eds\, journal articles\, and PolicyWatches about Jordan\, Lebanon\, Hezbollah\, and Egypt\, among other topics\, and contributed chapters to Institute monographs such as Beyond Islamists and Autocrats: Prospects for Political Reform Post Arab Spring (2017) and No Good Outcome: How Israel Could be Drawn into the Syrian Conflict (2013). He also published a chapter on U.S.-Lebanese relations in Lebanon: Liberation\, Conflict\, and Crisis (Palgrave\, 2009)\, and authored Egypt’s Enduring Challenges (2011)\, an Institute monograph focusing on the post-Mubarak situation. \nPreviously\, from 2002 to 2006\, Schenker served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as Levant country director\, the Pentagon’s top policy aide on the Arab nations of the Levant. In that capacity\, he advised the secretary and other senior Pentagon leadership on the military and political affairs of Syria\, Lebanon\, Jordan\, and the Palestinian territories. He was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service in 2005. \nPrior to joining the government in 2002\, Schenker focused on Arab governance issues as a research fellow at The Washington Institute\, and worked as a project coordinator for a Bethesda-based contractor responsible for large\, centrally funded USAID programs in Egypt and Jordan. He also authored the Institute books Dancing with Saddam: The Strategic Tango of Jordanian-Iraqi Relations (copublished with Lexington Books\, 2003) and Palestinian Democracy and Governance: An Appraisal of the Legislative Council (2001). His writings on Arab affairs have appeared in a number of prominent scholarly journals and newspapers\, including the Wall Street Journal\, Los Angeles Times\, and Jerusalem Post.

SUMMARY:View from the Homefront: A Briefing with Brigadier General (Res.) Amir Avivi
DESCRIPTION:  \nREAD TRANSCRIPT HERE \nAs I write these words\, Israelis are busy preparing their bomb shelters and sealed rooms for war. The assassination of Hamas chief political leader Ismael Haniyah in Tehran\, of Hamas military leader Mohammad Deif in Khan Younis Gaza\, of Hezbollah commander Faud Shakr\, as well as the air strikes over the Houthi stronghold\,  the Yemeni port city of Hodeida\, have put Israel in a perilous position. Every Israeli I have spoken to is proud of their intelligence and military apparatus but is preparing for the worst case scenario. \nIran’s supreme leader\, Ayatollah Ali Khameini\, embarrassed that the assassination of Ismael Haniya occurred to his “guest” in Tehran\, has ordered Iran to strike Israel directly\, saying that “We see avenging his blood our duty”\, and that Israel has prepared the stage “to receive severe punishment.” \nAfter 10 months of fighting in Gaza\, does Israel still have the defensive shield to be able to ensure the protection of their people? Do they have enough offensive weaponry to be able to eliminate the threats from Hamas\, Hezbollah and the Houthis and vanquish their foes? What does this war mean for one of the objectives of the Hamas war\, freeing the hostages? Has enough of Hamas been eliminated at this point in the war? And will the United States\, Jordan\, and the United Kingdom help with Israel’s defense\, as it did last April? \nHere to answer these questions and more is Brigadier General (Res.) Amir Avivi. \nAbout Our Speaker: \nBrig. Gen. (Res.) Amir Avivi is the founder and chairman of Israel Defense and Security Forum\, a group of over 22\,000 reserve officers and operatives from all branches of the Israeli security forces\, dedicated to guiding the narrative of Israel’s security needs and ensuring that Israel’s security in the homeland is never taken for granted. \nAt the core of IDSF lies the belief that Israel’s security must be anchored in its ability to protect itself\, by itself\, while actively thwarting threats to its safety. The authoritative voices of well-known military veterans\, media personalities and national security experts\, are key in disseminating our security strategy for the State of Israel. \nDuring his service\, Amir held a series of senior roles in the IDF\, including Deputy Comptroller of the Security Forces\, Director of the Office of the Chief of Staff\, Deputy Commander of the Gaza Division\, Commander of the Sagi Division\, Commander of Battalion 605 and Commander of the School of Combat Engineering.

SUMMARY:Iran’s Ring of Fire Surrounds Israel
DESCRIPTION:READ TRANSCRIPT HERE \nWhile the Biden administration and international community mistakenly view Israel’s current war with Hamas as one limited and simply about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict\, historian Gadi Taub correctly recognizes it as just the prologue to a much larger conflict between Israel and Iran with Israel on the frontlines of the battle against Western civilization. Israel’s miraculous targeted assassinations of numerous IRGC\, Hezbollah and Hamas senior level officials\, it’s military victories in Gaza\, and successful attack on the Houthis in Yemen signal that it’s strengths can in fact defeat Iran’s proxies in the region\, but Iran has built a frightening ring of fire around the tiny nation and it is unclear whether a strong U.S./Israel relationship will continue to help it prevail as Biden hands the reins of the Democrat Party to a possible Harris/Walz administration. When will war with Hezbollah break out\, will Iran attack\, how stable is the West Bank\, will Hamas survive under the new leadership of Yahya Sinwar? \nWe have much to discuss with Dr. Taub and the conversation will prove to be important and insightful as his realistic and brilliant knowledge of the conflict and the region is unique\, astute and penetrating. \nAbout our speaker: Gadi Taub is a Senior Lecturer at the Federmann School of Public Policy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He holds a Ph.D. in American History from Rutgers University. Having been canceled by Haaretz\, his column there closed down for supporting judicial reform\, he now writes Tablet Magazine and JNS.  His non-fiction books include the bestselling A Dispirited Rebellion: Essays on Contemporary Israeli Culture (Hebrew)\, What is Zionism (Hebrew) and The Settlers and The Struggle Over the Meaning of Zionism (Yale University Press\, 2010)\, and more recently the Global Elites and National Citizens in Israel\, the US and the West (Hebrew). His bestselling novel Allenby St. was adapted to a prime-time drama series which he created and co-wrote. He hosts Israel’s leading Hebrew conservative podcast\, Gatekeeper\, and co-host (with Michael Doran of the Hudson Institute) of Tablet‘s English language podcast\, Israel Update.

SUMMARY:Perspectives from within: Iranian intellectuals on potential strikes against Israel
DESCRIPTION:  \nREAD TRANSCRIPT HERE \nEver since Israel took out Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh\, the world has been waiting for Iran to retaliate. Iranian officials have threatened and blustered\, with a lack of follow through. The United States and foreign mediators are maintaining pressure on Iran to delay an attack targeting Israel\, by threatening Iran. US\, Israeli\, and Iranian officials cited by the New York Times on August 16 said that Iran is expected to delay its retaliatory strike during Israel- Hamas ceasefire negotiations. Is this the real reason Iran has not struck Israel directly? President Biden said that he “expects” that Iranian leaders will delay or indefinitely postpone a strike if a ceasefire agreement is reached. \nIt is widely known that the Iranian regime punishes and murders citizens who criticize the regime. How\, then\, do Iranian intellectuals inside Iran see the conflicts post-assasination of Ismaiel Haniya? How are they are justifying the actions of Iran regarding the possible strike to Israel? \nAbout our Speaker: Hussain Ehsani is an independent researcher based in Ottawa\, Canada. He holds a Master’s degree from University of Tehran\, in Middle East studies. His concentration was on the independence of Kurdistan and the regional security of Middle East. Ehsani previously worked in Iraq researching terrorist groups\, specifically ISIS and Al Qaeda. In Afghanistan\, Ehsani worked for the Islamic State of Khorasan Province\, at the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies where he wrote a book with Sean Withington\, called Islamic State Wilayat Khorasan: Phoney Caliphate or Bona Fide Province?\nAfter the US withdrew from Afghanistan\, he fled to Canada where he now covers the the war in Gaza. Hussain Ehsani is fluent in Farsi\, Arabic and knows Kurdish and Pashto.

SUMMARY:Iran’s Strategy for Attacking Israel and the United States
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe transcript will be available here.  \nEarly Sunday morning\, the Iranian proxy Hezbollah attempted once more to attack the state of Israel with scores of rockets and missiles aimed at Tel Aviv and central Israel. Since October 8th\, there have been more than 7\,500 rocket\, drone and missile attacks against the state of Israel from Hezbollah.  The IDF responded by launching counter- strikes\, intercepting the incoming missiles\, and preemptively striking out against the Hezbollah missile launchers. \nHezbollah\, which is just north of Israel’s border\, is just one of the many tentacles of the Iranian octopus. Iran has had a 14-century feud against the oil-producing Sunni state of Saudi Arabia. This has only increased the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution. As Saudi Arabia has been developing stronger ties-albeit under the table-with the state of Israel\, why has the Islamic Republic of Iran been singularly focused on eroding the US relationship with Saudi Arabia? What is their strategy to take over the Saud oil refineries? What is the Islamic Republic’s vision of its role in the region and in the world? How much of a presence does Hezbollah have in Latin America and how does that undermine US national security interests. \nHere to answer these questions and more is Ambassador Yoram Ettinger. \nAbout Our Speaker: Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger is an insider on US-Israel relations\, Mideast politics and overseas investments in Israel’s high tech.  He is a member of the American-Israel Demographic Research Group (AIDRG)\, which has documented dramatic flaws behind demographic fatalism on one hand and a Jewish demographic momentum on the other hand. \nHe is a consultant to members of Israel’s Cabinet and Knesset\, and regularly briefs US legislators and their staff on Israel’s contribution to vital US interests\, on the root causes of international terrorism and on other issues of bilateral concern. \nAmbassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger’s Op-eds have been published in Israel and in the US\, and he has been interviewed on Israel’s and US’ TV and radio.  He was a speaker at AIPAC Annual Conference. \nAmbassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger – who did his graduate studies at UCLA and undergraduate at UTEP – served as Minister for Congressional Affairs at Israel’s Embassy in Washington (with a rank of an ambassador)\, Israel’s Consul General in Houston and Director of Israel’s Government Press Office.  He is the editor of The Ettinger Report\, which focuses on issues of national security.

SUMMARY:What is the Situation Today on Israel’s North?
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript will be available here \nEver since October 8th\, the people in Israel’s north have endured approximately 8\,000 constant rocket\, missile\, and UAV attacks. Over 21\,000 acres of Israeli forests and farmland have been burned by Hezbollah missiles\, rockets\, and air strikes. Israeli citizens\, particularly in the north\, have been bracing themselves because of the elimination of Hezbollah leader Faud Shakir. Approximately 60\,000 to 80\,000 Israelis do not feel secure returning to their homes and have had to endure the feeling of being temporarily displaced persons within their own homeland. On August 25th\, Israeli intelligence learned that Hezbollah was about to launch a massive retaliatory strike for the elimination of Faud Shakir on Tel Aviv and central Israel\, including the Gilot base north of Tel Aviv\, which is home to the Mossad.  In this pre-emptive strike\, Israel was able to successfully take out scores of missile launchers and to successfully intercept Hezbollah’s incoming missiles. No Lebanese civilians were harmed in this IDF operation. \nOn top of this\, the United Nations just renewed the mandate for UNIFIL\, which has been in existence in southern Lebanon since March 1978. UNIFIL is supposed to rein in the presence of Hezbollah and to work in coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces\, a beneficiary of about $300\,000\,000 a year from the US taxpayer. \nHow effective is UNIFIL in preventing cross-border attacks? How effective has the Lebanese Armed Forces been? Just this week\, Hassan Nasrallah\, the Secretary General of Hezbollah has admitted that over 300 rockets this week\, were launched from southern Lebanon. These rockets have been launched from schools\, homes\, and mosques in communities in southern Lebanon\, just next to UNIFIL bases\, in clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. \nAre there tunnels reaching from southern Lebanon into northern Israel? Has the August 25th IDF operation prevented Hezbollah from launching more attacks on Israel? Why is the funding for UNIFIL constantly being renewed? Why\, as  Israel UN Ambassador Danny Dannon stated\, is the word “Hezbollah” missing from the UN resolution? Why is there no UN condemnation of Hezbollah? Is Lebanon working in coordination with Hezbollah? How is Hezbollah getting its massive weapons? Is Lebanon a real functioning state or simply a puppet state of Iran? \nAnd finally: What must Israel do to be able to restore calm and stability to Israel’s northern border and the Israeli citizens of the north? \nHere to answer these questions and more is Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi of the Alma Center. \nAbout our Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Sarit Zehavi is the founder and president of Alma – a nonprofit and an independent research and education center specializing in Israel’s security challenges on its northern border. Sarit has briefed hundreds of groups and forums\, ranging from US Senators\, Congressmen/women\, and politicians to senior journalists and visiting VIP groups in Israel and overseas. Sarit scripts numerous position papers and updates focusing on Lebanon\, Syria\, and Israel’s national security challenges. She served for 15 years in the Israeli Defense Forces\, specializing in Military Intelligence. Sarit holds an M.A. in Middle East Studies from Ben-Gurion University. Her unique achievements led her to be selected by the Jerusalem Post as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Global Jewish Personalities of 2021. \nSarit\, her husband Yaron\, and their children live in the Western Galilee.

SUMMARY:Special 9/11 Anniversary Webinar: A Discussion of the Many Threats to U.S. National Security
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe transcript can be found here \nIn the wake of the Islamist terror attack on U.S. soil by al Qaeda on September 11\, 2001\, the U.S. government vowed that it would never happen again and implemented many intelligence and security changes including the formation of the Department of Homeland Security. Unfortunately\, in the past 23 years\, America faces far greater challenges to the continued well-being and safety of its citizens than ever before. Islamist groups not only have been spreading across the globe including the resurgence of al Qaeda\, various forms of ISIS\, and the Taliban which now once again controls Afghanistan since our disastrous withdrawal\, but Iran (and its numerous proxies which are not limited to Hamas\, Hezbollah and the Houthis) is on the cusp of becoming a nuclear-armed state sponsor of terrorism that threatens both our allies in the Middle East and our homeland with Israel on the front line. Our now open border which DHS has failed to control over the past 3 1/2 years has allowed untold numbers of terrorists and gang members into the country while we learn way too often of Chinese spies infiltrating US institutions and even our governments. The axis of Russia/China/Iran/North Korea seems to grow stronger every day while Latin and South American countries are falling to Communist and tyrannical dictators who are no friends of the United States. Even in Asia and Africa\, the U.S. is losing influence and control to countries that were once allies but are now becoming foes. Join us for an in depth look at the world since 9/11 and the dangers we now face as we discuss all of this with national security expert Gabriel Noronha. \nGabriel Noronha is a Fellow at the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) and the Executive Director of POLARIS National Security. He is a leading advisor to Congress on Iran policy\, and his research on Iran\, Russia\, and China has been cited by the Senate and House of Representatives in dozens of letters\, statements\, testimonies\, and pieces of bipartisan legislation. Gabriel previously testified to the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission on ensuring the efficacy of sanctions policy while promoting humanitarian outcomes\, and to the House Financial Services Committee on strengthening financial pressure on the Iranian regime and its terror proxies. He exposed a major $10 billion nuclear deal between Russia and Iran and worked with Congress to impose sanctions on the program. From 2019 to 2021\, Gabriel served as Special Advisor for the Iran Action Group at the U.S. Department of State\, where he directed the Department’s communications\, human rights policy\, and congressional affairs for Iran\, and helped coordinate the Maximum Pressure sanctions policy that deprived the Iranian regime of as much as $200 billion. From 2017-2019\, he worked as the Special Assistant for the Senate Armed Services Committee under Chairmen John McCain and Jim Inhofe\, helping write\, negotiate\, and pass the annual national security legislation\, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Gabriel also served as Executive Director of the Forum for American Leadership from 2021- 2022 and worked for U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte from 2015-2016. Gabriel speaks and conducts research in Russian\, Mandarin\, and Spanish.

SUMMARY:Deterring Iran’s Dash to the Bomb
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n\n\n\nTranscript will be available here\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile America is preoccupied with electoral politics and Israel is bogged down in war with Iranian terrorist proxies\, it appears as if the Islamic Republic may be making a mad dash to complete its quest for nuclear weapons. Some intelligence officials believe that Iran is expediting its program and that the period between now and the inauguration of a new administration is the most critical in order to prevent a fait accompli. In response to this existential development\, Foundation for Defense of Democracies fellow Behnam Ben Taleblu\, along with his colleagues Bradley Bowman and Orde Kittrie\, developed a strategic plan setting forth extensive recommendations that our government should rapidly implement in order to hinder Iran’s completion of nuclear weapons development. Taleblu stated\, “The Islamic Republic did not invest billions of dollars and decades of time into a nuclear program because it is a science fair project. This is a quest for the ultimate weapon\, but one that is advanced opportunistically and with minimal exposure to risk. To that end\, as the presidential election nears and Washington looks inward\, Tehran may hope to advance its atomic agenda by presenting the world with a fait accompli. Fortunately\, Tehran’s hedging can be shaped and deterred by Washington\, should it decide to credibly and clearly signal resolve and bolster its deterrence.”\nJoin us for an important discussion of what the U.S. government could and should be doing to stop the Islamic Republic from forever changing the face of the Middle East and threatening the West with nuclear war.\n\nAbout this speaker: Behnam Ben Taleblu is a senior fellow at FDD where he focuses on Iranian security and political issues. \n

SUMMARY:Israel’s War on Multiple Fronts\, Including Judea and Samaria
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript can be found here \nAs I write this\, Israel is mounting a barrage of explosions across southern Lebanon\, home to a plethora of Hezbollah bases. This comes after Hezbollah experienced a clear and precisely executed attack from beepers and walkie-talkies\, killing dozens and injuring thousands of Hezbollah members\, including several high-ranking Radwan members. However\, the war in Hamas-controlled Gaza isn’t officially over. And from I\,086 miles\, the Houthis of Yemen have been trying to lay siege on Eilat\, and the shipping lanes of the Red Sea  In the meantime\, Iran has been smuggling weapons through Jordan into Judea and Samaria /the West Bank\, amidst increasing tension and several attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians. This aspect of the war has gotten very little press coverage. \nDue to the recent activities in the beqaa valley\, we will look at the scope of the entire war. Israel is now taking on a new chapter of the war\, and ensuring that the displaced people from the North can return to their homes in safety and security\, by taking on Hezbollah. \nDoes Israel have the military arsenal to be able to defend itself on these multiple fronts? Is the army and are the reservists prepared to be able to endure yet another long war? Is this the end of the long war in Gaza\, or just the beginning of the next stage against Hezbollah and radical forces within the territories? How is this long war affecting Israeli morale and the economy?  Do the Israeli people have the will to be able to endure yet another stage in this long\, existential war? \nHere to answer these questions and more is Lieutenant Colonel Maurice Hirsch. \nAbout our Speaker: Lt.-Col. (res.) Maurice Hirsch is the Director of the Palestinian Authority Accountability Initiative in the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs. He served for 19 years in the IDF MAG. In his last position he served as Director of the Military Prosecution for Judea and Samaria. After retiring from the IDF\, Hirsch worked as the Head of Legal Strategies for Palestinian Media Watch\, as a Senior Military Consultant for NGO Monitor\, an advisor to the Ministry of Defense\, and head of an advisory committee in the Ministry of Interior. Hirsch was the architect of the Israeli law that strips citizenship from Israeli terrorists who have been convicted for terror offenses\, sentenced to a custodial sentence\, and receive a payment from the Palestinian Authority as a reward for their acts of terror.

SUMMARY:The View from Lebanon
DESCRIPTION:The transcript is available here \nIn light of the recent dramatic events within Lebanon\, our webinar with Ratnadeep Chakraborty has been postponed until further notice. Tomorrow’s webinar will now feature Dr. Walid Phares\, an American scholar born in Beirut\, and a Middle East expert. \nDr. Phares will tell us what the view is from Lebanon\, how the various ethnic groups within Lebanon are regarding the demise of Hassan Nasrallah\, and most of the Radwan force\, whether Hezbollah has sufficient expertise within its ranks to replace those whom the IDF has eliminated\, whether Hezbollah has sufficient recruits to mount a challenging offensive to the IDF ground force which is posed to enter Lebanon. Will the IDF be able to meet its goals of making the Hezbollah retreat north of the Litani River? Can the Lebanese Armed Forces be a sufficient force to be able to curtail Hezbollah’s retreat south of the Litani River? Will it be necessary for Israeli forces to remain in this area for a temporary period? And if so\, how will the United States and the international community respond? \nAbout our Speaker: Dr. Walid Phares is an engaging and highly sought after Middle East and foreign policy expert and pacesetter\, often predicting trends and situations on the ground years before they occur. He has been a Fox News Terrorism Expert\, is now Newsmax Foreign Policy analyst and has appeared on world and national media\, including BBC\, CNN\, NBC\, France 24\, al Arabiya\, al Jazeera\, al Sharq\,  and has been widely published in many countries. He has co-launched two recent projects\, “Educate America” platform to help reform US education of the Middle East and counter disinformation in the classroom\, and “War and Freedom: Insights Talk” Podcast available on Yutoube\, \nHe has served as an advisor to the US Congress and the European Parliament and has also served as an advisor on foreign policy to former President Donald Trump and a national security senior advisor to presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012. Dr Phares is the only expert/author who predicted the Arab Spring a year before it occurred in his pacesetting book\, The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East (Threshold\, a division of Simon and Shuster 2010). His book Future Jihad: Terrorist strategies has predicted the spread of the Jihadi ideology worldwide and his other book “The Lost Spring” has accurately predicted Iran and Jihadists strategies. His last book Iran An Imperialist Republic and US Policy (2003) has exposed the transaction between the Islamic regime and the US administration. \nDr Phares holds an extensive CV and noteworthy achievements in the fields of academia\, government strategies\, media and publishing critical advice on combatting terrorism and countering jihadi radicalization both stateside and abroad. \nHe holds a Ph.D in international relations and strategic studies from the University of Miami\, and a Political Science Degree from St Joseph University and a Law degree from the Lebanese University in Beirut and a Master in International Law from Universite’ Jean Moulin in Lyons\, France. \nDr Phares taught political science and Middle East studies at Florida Atlantic University between 1993 and 2004. Since 2006\, he taught Global Jihadi strategies at the National Defense University in Washington DC\, and was Vice President of BAU private university in Washington DC until 2018. Dr Phares lectures on campuses nationwide and internationally\, including at the US Intelligence University. He lectured at Georgetown University\, George Washington University\, American University\, Columbia\, University of Chicago\, Pepperdine\, Boston College\, Brandeis\, UC Berkley\, University of Colorado at Boulder\, Loyola New Orleans\, UC Santa Barbara\, and many others including Ecole Militaire of France in Paris. Dr Phares lectures also to various academic associations including the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa in Washington DC and Middle East American ethnic organizations. \nAfter having authored six books on Middle East politics and history (in Arabic) in the 1980s\, Dr Phares authored another seven in English stateside since the mid 1990s. His most important volumes were published after 9/11 starting with Future Jihad: Terrorist Strategies against America\, (Palgrave Macmillan\, 2005) and a critically acclaimed book that was ranked in the top ten books of the 2006 Foreign Affairs List. Future Jihad was read and cited by many members of Congress and the European Parliament. Dr Phares predicted the rise of jihadi urban networks and set forth strategies to counter them in the West and overseas. Dr Phares published two more books on global strategies: The War of Ideas (Palgrave Macmillan\, 2008) explaining the ideological indoctrination and The Confrontation a policy strategy book designed to isolate radicals. In 2014 he published The Lost Spring: Avoiding Catastrophes in US Foreign Policy. And last year Dr Phares published “The Choice” a comparative analysis of the Obama\, Trump and Biden agendas in world politics. \nMedia and colleagues alike\, rave about Phares’s hallmark book\, which predicted the Arab Spring a year before it occurred: The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East (Simon and Shuster\, 2010). The book was endorsed by US Presidential candidate Mitt Romney\, and praised by many leading figures in Congress\, political circles and media on both sides of the Atlantic. \nFor almost two decades Dr Phares led seminars and trained analysts and officials at several US national security\, defense and counter terrorism agencies. He also addressed international officers from two dozens countries on terrorism and conflicts. \nDr Walid Phares is a native of Beirut\, Lebanon\, and immigrated to the United States in 1990. SUMMARY:Iran\, Hamas\, Hezbollah and Beyond: Looking at 5785 with Clear Eyes
DESCRIPTION:Transcript is available here. \nThis past year has seen the longest war in Israel’s history. We have watched as Israel has tried to pick the pieces up from the tremendous and horrific devastation of October 7th. We marvel at the courage\, determination\, and resilience of the Israeli people\, and especially of the brave men and women of the IDF. Although a great deal of the Hamas infrastructure has been decimated\, and Israel\, with its well-executed maneuvers has knocked out much of Hezbollah’s infrastructure\, ground forces are entering Lebanon as we speak\, and there are still many challenges ahead. \nHow will Israel be able to maintain security over its northern border \, allowing its citizens to return to their homes in safety and security? How will it ensure that Hamas\, or a Hamas-like structure will not re-emerge within Gaza? How can Israel continue to fight on these fronts\, and eliminate the threats from within Judea and Samaria? Will Israel be able to attack the Iranian nuclear infrastructure\, or its oil bases? Can Israel depend on anyone\, other than itself\, to do the job? \nHere to answer these questions and more is General Amir Avivi. \nAbout Our Speaker: Brig. Gen. (Res.) Amir Avivi is the founder and chairman of Israel Defense Security Forum\, or Habithonistim.

SUMMARY:U.S. Foreign Policy Challenges in a Dangerous World
DESCRIPTION:The transcript will be available here \nJust eight days before Hamas’ brutal invasion of Israel which resulted in 1200 Israelis butchered and 250 kidnapped to Gaza\, U.S. national security advisor Jake Sullivan ignorantly stated\, “The Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades now.” Had Sullivan been speaking during the Trump years\, there may have been some truth to that statement but since the Biden/Harris administration entered office\, the world has seen multiple wars (including in the Middle East between Israel and Iran and its proxies and in Europe for the first time since World War 2); global insecurity resembling that of earlier world wars; a new axis of evil in the form of Russia-China-Iran-North Korea; and our military being downgraded due to lack of funds\, a focus on woke policies that have weakened its personnel and priorities\, underperforming recruitment numbers\, and policies of appeasement of our enemies. Couple this with three and a half years of wide open borders through which terrorists have entered the country and America is facing very dangerous security problems requiring immense changes if we are to remain a safe and secure superpower that projects strength in order to keep peace. From Europe and the Middle East to Southeast Asia and the Sahel region of Africa\, America’s enemies are on the march. Join of for a discussion of the national security challenges that we face and what should be done to address these challenges with the brilliant and insightful Danielle Pletka\, foreign policy expert with the American Enterprise Institute. \nAbout our speaker: Danielle Pletka is a distinguished senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute\, where she focuses on the Middle East\, terrorism\, and US foreign policy. Until January 2020\, Ms. Pletka was the senior vice president of Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at AEI. She teaches US foreign policy toward the Middle East at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and is a political analyst for NBC News. Before joining AEI\, Ms. Pletka was a senior professional staff member specializing in the Middle East and South Asia for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Ms. Pletka has authored\, coauthored\, and coedited a variety of studies\, monographs\, and book chapters and is a regular guest on television including appearing frequently on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” as well as on CBS News\, CNN\, C-SPAN\, and MSNBC. She has been published in The Washington Post\, The Wall Street Journal\, The New York Times\, The Hill\, and Politico\, among other outlets. Ms. Pletka is also the cohost\, with AEI’s Marc Thiessen\, of the podcast “What the Hell Is Going On? (Making Sense of the World).”

SUMMARY:The Media\, Academia\, and International Community’s Cognitive War on Israel
DESCRIPTION:  \nTranscript will be available here \n  \nThe anti-Israel bias in the mainstream media\, at the UN and other international organizations\, and in academia is nothing new. What is\, however\, shocking\, is the portrayal of Israel and demonization of a country trying to survive after a barbaric invasion of its homeland that resulted in the greatest number of murdered Jews since the Holocaust\, that involved acts of aggression unimaginable in any civilized culture\, and in which 250 hostages were taken many of whom remain in captivity in horrific conditions. The massacre on October 7th isn’t a fantasy – the terrorists filmed their atrocities\, the civilian population in Gaza celebrated the terrorists’ accomplishments\, their leaders promised to repeat October 7th over and over again and yet\, Israel is portrayed as the aggressor by the world including by the Biden/Harris administration. The media – from al Jazeera and the BBC to Reuters and The New York Times are aiding and abetting the terrorists with lies and blood libels published as fact\, faculty and students across college campuses are cheering on the destruction of the Jewish homeland and attacking Jewish students\, and the UN\, ICC\, ICJ and EU are all accusing Israel of atrocities that are sheer fantasy. Here to help us break this down and understand what Israel is confronting in its cognitive war is the always insightful Alex Traiman\, CEO and Jerusalem Bureau Chief of the Jewish National Syndicate. \nAbout our speaker: Alex Traiman is CEO and Jerusalem Bureau Chief of the Jewish News Syndicate. A veteran Israeli journalist\, radio-show host\, documentary filmmaker and startup consultant\, he writes on Israeli politics and U.S.-Israel relations. He has conducted one-on-one interviews with Israeli officials\, among them Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\, whose recent speech to a joint session Congress he attended and covered. Other key figures include members of the Knesset\, government and War Cabinet. He has also interviewed U.S. senators\, congressmen\, ambassadors\, former CIA heads and national security advisers. He interviewed then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on an official visit to Jerusalem. He has appeared on the BBC\, Bloomberg\, CBS\, NBC\, FOX\, News Nation and Newsmax\, and is a frequent guest on WABC and CBS radio. An NCAA champion fencer in the Yeshiva University sports hall of fame\, he moved to Israel in 2004\, and lives in Jerusalem with his wife and five children.

SUMMARY:Updates from Israel's Northern Front with Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi
DESCRIPTION:Transcript will be available here \nEver since the barbaric attacks of October 7\, 2023\, the Iranian proxy Hezbollah has been itching to show solidarity with Hamas and get into the war. \nDuring this current war\, Hezbollah has lobbied over 10\,000 missiles into Israel\, causing at least 60\,000 to 70\,000 Israelis to become internally displaced refugees in their own homeland. Thousands of acres of farmland and forests have been destroyed by Hezbollah projectiles coming into Israel. \nIn mid-September\, Israel stunned the world by having scores of Hezbollah’s pagers and walkie-talkies exploding in their very hands. Shortly after that\, Israeli ground troops entered the northern front. \nAlthough the IDF has been successful in eliminating a great deal of the Radwan Force\, the IDF recently uncovered a tunnel system housing a Hezbollah underground command center replete with approximately a half-ton of explosives including Kalashnikovs\, hand grenades\, RPG’S\, and underground exploding devices\, and projectiles\, all beneath “innocent” communities and homes in southern Lebanon. \nAlthough some Israel national security advisors have stated that the IDF has eliminated at least 70 percent of the 150\,000 weapons from Hezbollah\, at least 30\,000 weapons remain. That can do a significant amount of damage. \nMeanwhile\, the United States has sent a special envoy\, Amos Hochstein into the region\, who has come back\, once again\, empty-handed. \nAmong the issues we will be discussing are the recent IDF discovery of a massive underground tunnel and what it means for the out some of the war. How many are there like this?  How the recent US plan\, conveyed by Amos Hochstein is any different from UN Security Council Resolution 1701. What kind of international force\, if any\, would be acceptable to Israel to enforce 1701? The significance of the recent capture of a Hezbollah sea captain by Israel. What might Israel be looking for?  UNIFIL “claimed” that Israeli troops have attacked it. What is the actual truth behind this story? Can ALMA explain UNIFIL’s reluctance to obey the IDF’s orders? \nHow ALMA might envision the end of the war on the northern front and whether Hezbollah or some other incarnation of it\, regroup. And whether there can be an independent Lebanon\, not dominated by Hezbollah How might that government look like? What can the US and other world powers do to ensure that will happen?

SUMMARY:Behnam Ben Taleblu on the Iranian Nuclear Program and Its Return to a Policy of “Murder for Hire”
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript will be available here \nSince the October 25th Israeli attack on an Iranian nuclear research facility in Parchin\, how significant is the damage done to the Islamic Republic’s ability to strike out against Israel?  Does the Islamic Republic want to engage with the state of Israel and perhaps her allies in a nuclear war? How damaged has the nuclear research facility become? How long will it take them to replicate it? \nWill it continue to simply use its terror proxies “until the last Arab”? \nWe know that Iran had attempted to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump\, Ambassador John Bolton\, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo\, and Former Assistant Secretary of State Brian Hook\, as well as Masih Alinejad.  Since the recent confirmation that  three Uzbek nationals allegedly hired by Iran murdered  Rabbi Tzvi Kogan\, an Israeli Chabad Rabbi\, in the UAE\, is Iran simply returning to its policy of “murder for hire?” \nAbout this speaker: Behnam Ben Taleblu is a senior fellow at FDD\, where he focuses on Iranian security and political issues. Behnam previously served as a research fellow and senior Iran analyst at FDD. Before his time at FDD\, Behnam worked on non-proliferation issues at an arms control think-tank in Washington. Leveraging his subject-matter expertise and native Farsi skills\, Behnam has closely tracked a wide range of Iran-related topics\, including nuclear non-proliferation\, ballistic missiles\, sanctions\, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps\, the foreign and security policy of the Islamic Republic\, and internal Iranian politics. Frequently called upon to brief journalists\, congressional staff\, and other Washington audiences\, Behnam has also testified before the U.S. SUMMARY:SPECIAL WEBINAR: Navigating through the Syrian Complexity
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe transcript will be available here. \nThe Syrian situation is not as facile as many in the United States would like to believe. Although the evolution of the rebel movement began with a few innocent children writing on the wall in the beginning of the Arab Spring of 2011\, that “Assad must go”\, by now elements of ISIS\, Al Qaeda  and the HTS\, which is on the US list of terrorist organizations\, have joined in with the Sunni rebels. We know that on one side is Iranian and Russian backed Bashar Assad. Who is actually the good guy here\, or are there none? \nHere to help walk us through this situation is Hazem Alghabra. \nAbout Our Speaker: \nHazem Alghabra\, born in Damascus Syria\, is the founder and president of Frontiers Consultants\, a Washington DC-based consultancy firm that provides public relations and crisis management solutions with a focus on the Middle East and the United States. Prior to starting his firm\, Alghabra held multiple positions with the U.S. Department of State including senior advisor for public affairs at the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Alghabra provides daily insight and analysis as a commentator on a vast array of television stations including i24\, Keshet\, Alarabyia\, Sky News\, BBC\, and Alsharq-Bloomberg. SUMMARY:The Battle for the Jewish State
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe transcript will be available here \n  \nOn October 7th\, 2023\, Israel was ambushed by the Palestinian terrorist organization\, Hamas. The attack\, underwritten by the Islamic Republic of Iran\, unleashed unspeakable terrors on the Israeli population\, however\, a legion of figures in academia\, the media\, international governmental and non-governmental organizations including the United Nations\, and the United States nonetheless declared support for Palestine\, the perpetrator of the atrocities. In The Battle for the Jewish State\, Victoria Coates explains why Israel exists\, why it is worthy of remaining a critical ally of the United States\, and why critical race theorists identified Israel and the U.S. as the most pernicious examples of “settler colonialism” while explaining how the current conflict in Israel is not a regional issue to be resolved through an interminable diplomatic peace process. Rather\, it is a broader military and cultural war that must be won for the sake not only of Israel\, but of the United States as well. Joining us to discuss her book as well as regional issues surrounding the Israel/Palestinian conflict and Islamic Republic’s multi-front war on Israel is Middle East expert Victoria Coates. \nAbout the Speaker: Victoria Coates is Vice President of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation. Coates is an academic and policy maker with senior experience across the U.S. government in the Congress\, White House\, and Department of Energy. She previously served as a Senior Fellow in international relations and national security in Heritage’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom\, where she focused on the Middle East and North Africa\, U.S. energy security and strategy\, and countering the threat from the People’s Republic of China. \nCoates served as the Director of Research in (former) Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s personal office\, joined (then) Governor of Texas Rick Perry’s primary campaign for President in 2011 as a Senior Advisor\, and continued as a consultant to Governor Perry on foreign policy until 2013\, when she accepted the position of Senior Advisor for National Security in Senator Ted Cruz’s office. \nCoates joined (then) President Elect Donald J. Trump’s transition team for the National Security Council staff in 2016\, and following the Inauguration\, she was appointed to the NSC as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Strategic Communications. Coates subsequently served as Senior Director for International Negotiations and for Middle Eastern Affairs\, before being named Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Middle Eastern and North African Affairs in 2019. \nAfter moving to the Middle Eastern Affairs Directorate in 2018\, Coates developed the concept of the Middle East Strategic Alliance (MESA)\, designed to unite Saudi Arabia\, UAE\, Oman\, Bahrain\, Qatar\, Kuwait\, Jordan\, and Egypt in security\, economic and energy cooperation under U.S. leadership to expand U.S. regional influence and increase burden sharing. She maximized the historic U.S. investment in Israel\, collaborating with Congress and the State Department to relocate the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and opposing attempts by malign actors to marginalize the Jewish state while working to integrate Israel into the Middle East\, which culminated in the Abraham Accords with UAE and Bahrain. \nCoates also took the NSC lead on the imposition of unprecedented U.S. economic sanctions on Iran in 2018\, working across the U.S. government and with regional partners to ensure the effectiveness of the sanctions\, and partnering with Saudi Arabia to ensure increased U.S. and Saudi oil production would replace supply impacted by the sanctions\, which successfully mitigated projected spikes in energy markets. \nIn early 2020\, Coates transferred to the Department of Energy to advise Secretary Brouillette on national security issues and act as his personal representative in the Middle East and North Africa. In the course of this work\, she promoted the United States as an energy superpower\, broadly advocated for U.S. industry as the partner of choice for up and downstream projects Africa during extended travel in Saudi Arabia and UAE\, coordinated with Congress and DoE in the aftermath of the energy market crisis in April 2020 to promote stability and recovery\, and supported U.S. observer status in the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum. \nIn addition\, Coates prioritized protection of U.S. energy industry security and intellectual property across the Middle East\, working with regional partners to establish mechanisms curtailing investment of untrusted vendors\, primarily Chinese state-owned entities\, that would impact future collaboration with the U.S. Coates also engaged regional partners on critical infrastructure security\, encouraging cooperation between Dragos and Saudi Arabia on cyber-security platforms supported by the Department of Energy\, and overseeing collaboration between the Idaho National Lab and UAE on cyber-security for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant. \nAt the conclusion of the Trump administration\, Coates became the Director of Middle Eastern Programs at the Center for Security Policy\, then a Distinguished Fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council. In the course of this work\, Coates has published on a broad range of national security topics in outlets such as Bloomberg\, The Daily Mail\, The Federalist\, FoxNews.com\, The Hill\, The Jerusalem Post\, National Review\, The New York Post\, Newsweek\, The Washington Post\, The Washington Times\, and The Wall Street Journal. She also appears regularly on the BBC\, Fox News\, the Fox Business Network\, and Newsmax. \nCoates is the author and presenter of dozens of publications and conference papers worldwide on the intersections of art and history\, including David’s Sling: A History of Democracy in Ten Works of Art (Encounter Books\, 2016) and the forthcoming Seeing the Light: A History of Christianity in Twelve Works of Art (under contract with Encounter Books)\, which are part of a projected trilogy on the key tenets of Western Civilization: democracy\, the Judeo-Christian moral code\, and the primacy of the individual.

SUMMARY:How Has the Syrian Revolution and the Hezbollah Ceasefire Impacted the Lives of Israel’s Northern Communities?
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript will be available here \nHow have the lightning rapid speed of the Syrian revolution and the fragile ceasefire with Hezbollah impacted the lives of the residents of Israel’s northern communities? Why has it been necessary for Israel to take over the Syrian part of Mt. Harmon and to destroy Assad’s weapons depots\, and it’s military and strategic assets? Is it necessary for Israel to take over several villages in Syria\, despite the reaction of the international community?  Turning to Lebanon\, there has been a continuation of the IDF discovering missile launchers\, KPGs\, and rockets. What are the goals of the IDF in Lebanon? What impact have all of these changes in Israel’s north had on the ability of the residents of the north to return home? Is Hezbollah in Lebanon undeterred? How trustworthy is Mohamad al Jolani (Ahmad al-Sharaa)\, in his declarations? What are the roots of Hyatt Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)\, and are his words simply an example of Takiya? \nHere to answer these questions and more it Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi. \nAbout Our Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel (Res.)
