What had been struck was the Ras Tanura oil refinery in Saudi Arabia\, the Navy’s Fifth Fleet and the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bahrain\, the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait\, as well as the Kuwaiti International Airport\, the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar\, and the Port of Daqm in Oman. \nIs his the beginning of a new alliance in the Gulf? How long will this endure? \nHere to answer these questions and more is Dalia Zaida. \nAbout our Speaker: Dalia Ziada was born in Cairo\, Egypt. Her mother was a schoolteacher and her father was a  Lieutenant  Colonel Engineer in the Egyptian Armed Forces. Dalia authored “The Curious Case of the Three-Legged Wolf – Egypt: Military\, Islamism\, and Liberal Democracy”. Dalia studied international diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tuft University. Dalia was instrumental in the uprising that initiated the 2011 revolution against the regime of President Hosni Mubarak. Dalia had been named by CNN as one of the eight agents of change in the Middle East and by The Daily Beast as “one of the most fearless women in the world” for two years in a row. During the war between Israel and Gaza\, Dalia voiced strong support for Israel. Unfortunately\, this led to a strong backlash in her native Egypt\, resulting in threats to her safety and to her life\, along with accusations of espionage and incitement of war crimes. Dalia argued that Israel’s response to Hamas’ barbaric attacks\, aimed at dislodging the Islamist terrorist organization\, Hamas\, and securing the release of hostages\, was justified\, on Israel’s part. Because of this\, Dalia was forced into hiding\, and she sought refuge within the United States.

Yet\, beginning on December 28\, 2025\, millions of protesters have poured into the streets in over 400 cities throughout Iran. One of the immediate reasons was that the rial has been profoundly devalued. Today it is approximately 42 thousand rials per dollar. Iranians are also suffering a tremendous water drought. They turn on the tap\, and nothing comes out.  However\, what most of the Iranians want  desperately are their basic human rights and freedoms. Yet the huge tidal wave for a counter-revolution on the streets of Iran has been met with unparalleled\, brutal force.  According to the National Union of Democracy in Iran\, at least 40\,000 protesters have been left murdered on the streets\, crying out for the very freedoms we cherish in the United States. \nIf the United States fails to act\, will this simply serve to embolden and further empower the Islamist Republic and all of the terror proxies throughout the region? Will this forever be a black stain on America’s moral legacy? How might this serve to empower Hezbollah\, Hamas\, and the Houthis? \n\nAbout our Speaker: Khosro Isfahani is NUFDI’s research director. He is a journalist and open-source investigator working on all things Iran with a focus on human rights\, security\, and armed forces. \nBetween 2009 and 2021\, he worked in Iran as a frontline human rights defender in addition to his journalism work\, delivering rapid aid to at-risk communities while documenting human rights violations and crimes against humanity committed by the Islamic Republic. While in Iran\, he directly and indirectly worked with international media\, human rights groups\, and the United Nations. \nKhosro left Iran in 2021 for a position at BBC Monitoring\, where he was a lead analyst and reporter on Iran until 2023. At BBCM\, he covered state killings and violence against protesters\, along with military and security developments linked to Iran. \nIn 2023\, he moved to the United States for a teaching position at Colby College in Maine\, where he served as a professor and the human rights fellow with the Oak Institute and taught two courses on human rights and the modern history of Iran. \nAfter his time at Colby\, Khosro joined the Atlantic Council in 2024\, leading the organization’s open-source investigation of human rights and international law violations committed by individuals within and linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran. SUMMARY:The Tragic Plight of the Kurds
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript will be available here  \n  \nThe Kurds\, a people who span parts of southeastern Turkey\,  northwestern Iran\, northern Iraq and northeastern Syria have an old expression\, “We have no other friends but the mountains.”  The Kurds have been remarkable allies of the United States against ISIS. They were there\, many time without any US or foreign backup\, killing and dying ISIS members in order to defeat the Islamic States. When Mark Sykes and  Charles Georges Picot prepared a draft agreement after World War I\, preparing borders for new states\, there was no attention given to minority groups\, such as the Kurds. When the war against ISIS was fully waging\, EMET worked very closely with the Kurdish people\, from 2016 on\, representing the Syrian Democratic Forces or the noble and courageous Peshmerga. \nToday\, we are looking at a new Syria\, where a former member of the Sunni jihadist group\, Hay ‘at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is ruling the country. Ahmad al-Sharaa\, or Mahammed al-Julani is determined to set an authoritarian\, Sunni Islamist regime in all of Syria\, with the assistance of Turkey. . What does this mean for the beleaguered Kurdish forces\, as well as the Druzes and Alawites and the Christians. What does this tell us abut the price of US alliance and friendship? \nDiliman Abdulkader is the Director of the American Friends of Kurdistan. He will answer why our envoy\, Thomas Barrack and  President  Donald Trump have “turned a blind eye” to Ahmad al-Sharaa’s swift takeover of the Kurdish controlled region of northwestern Syria\, and what is portend for the future of minorities throughout the Middle East\, as well as of the cost of being loyal to the United States. \nAbout our speaker: Diliman Abdulkader is the founder of American Friends of Kurdistan (AFK)\, an advocacy and education organization established to strengthen\, protect\, and promote U.S.-Kurdish relations. This has amounted to the largest mass uprising since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. \nWe also know that after President Trump had posted on Truth Social “Iranian Patriots\, keep protesting…take over your institutions!!! Help is on its way”\, Trump has suddenly changed his mind. He has now said that “The killing has stopped.” \nWhy is that? How have we gotten to this point? What is the history behind the Islamic Revolution? What did President Carter say and do? What did President Obama say and do? Why do we sometimes see footage of scores upon scores of bodies laid out in row after row on our cellphones? Which Arab allies have spoken to President Trump\, and what are they actually after? Is it still possible to retrieve a democracy\, or even a benign monarchy in Iran? \nAt the end of the day\, which side of history is the United States on? \nAnd finally: We often hear about what the United States offers Israel\, but isn’t this a two-way street? On November 6th\, exactly 4 days before the Trump-al Sharaa meeting\, the United Nations lifted all sanctions against al-Sharaa. SUMMARY:The Rise of Antisemitism within the United States
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript will be available here \nFor perhaps the first time in our history\, the Jewish community in the United States is feeling besieged by unprecedented attacks on both the extreme left\, and the extreme right. The Jewish community of New York City\, the largest community of Jews outside of Israel\, is feeling frightened\, abandoned and confused. Tucker Carlson has given the white supremacist\, and Holocaust-denier\, Nick Fuentes a welcome embrace\, and Kevin Roberts of the Heritage Foundation had uncritically defended Tucker Carlson. This has led to several resignations within Heritage\, and\, after a week of outrage\, a later apology from Kevin Roberts. There is also a growing isolationist trend within republican politics.  We are seeing a civil war within the right. \nHowever\, that right-wing “civil war” pales in comparison to the woke embrace of radical left-wing socialists who are sympathetic to radical Islamists on the left. The recent mayoral election in New York of Zohran Mamdani has us greatly alarmed. Mr. Mamdani has made inflammatory statements regarding the state of Israel\, calling what is happening in Gaza a “genocide”. While a student at Bowdoin College\, he formed an alliance with the radical left-wing Jewish group J Street and subsequently shut the alliance down.  He has made deftly-crafted  statements such as\, “My support for BDS is consistent with the core of my politics\, which is nonviolence. And I think that it is a legitimate movement when you are seeking to find compliance with international law.” He is attempting to threaten the partnership of Cornell and the Technion in Haifa\, and has vowed to “arrest” Prime Minister Netanyahu\, if he even lands in New York. Based on interviews in the New York Times\, his words represent the views of thousands of Muslims throughout the United States. \nIn August of 1790\, President George Washington wrote a letter to the congregation of Newport\, Rhode Island\, saying “May the children of the stock of Abraham who dwell in this land continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants—while every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree and there shall be none to make him afraid.” \nAre we\, Jews of America\, still feeling that same sense of “safety” today? \nHere to discuss this is Eric Mandel.  \nAbout our Speaker: Dr. Eric Mandel is the founder and Director of MEPIN™\, the Middle East Political Information Network™. The over-riding conviction of the Iranian-backed terror proxy is its violent opposition to the existence of Israel and its rejection of Western values\, norms\, and influences of the Middle East. \nOn September 17\, 2024\, Israeli intelligence services planted explosives\, near the batteries of thousands of Hezbollah’s pagers. In what is referred to as “Operation Exploding Pager”\, these instruments exploded simultaneously throughout Lebanon and Syria. The following day\, hundreds of walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah also exploded. On September 27\, 2024\, the Hezbollah leader\, Hassan Nasrallah\, was killed by a strike by the Israeli air force over Dahiya\, a suburb of Beirut and a Hezbollah strong hold. \nMeanwhile however\, Hezbollah has been retrenching itself in southern Lebanon. On Saturday\, November 1st\, the IDF struck a vehicle with four Hezbollah Radwan terrorists inside. According to the Jerusalem Post\, the commander of these forces were attempting to re-establish the Hezbollah infrastructure and the transfer of weapons on the ground in southern Lebanon \nAt the same time\, Iran has been developing a proxy network of Hezbollah bases in neighboring Iraq\, aligned with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-l Quds force\, that can launch long-range missile and drone attacks toward Israel. \nWestern officials have recently said that “Hezbollah is rebuilding faster than the Lebanese government is dismantling them.” \nAbout Our Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) SUMMARY:The Status of Egypt in the Current Situation
DESCRIPTION:The transcript will be available here \n Our 20 remaining live hostages have finally been returned home. President Donald Trump spoke before the Knesset and was interrupted many times by standing ovations. Today we are triumphant that the hostages\, finally\, after two emotionally and physically brutal years will finally be returned to the loving arms of their families. \nStage I of the deal is over\, (although not all of the deceased have been returned for proper burials.) \nStage II awaits us. There will\, most likely\, be many bumps in the road. Hamas is not likely to give up its power without a fight. \nEgypt is one of the parties which had been tasked with mediating the dispute between the terrorist organization\, Hamas\, and Israel. The other two are Turkey and Qatar. \nTurkey\, under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan\, has made the most deplorable statements towards Israel\, just within this week. Without reference to the barbaric attacks of Hamas of October 7\, 2023\, Erdogan has accused Israel of “genocidal attacks on the Palestinians which are worse than Hitler’s”. He immediately praised the terrorist group Hamas for accepting Trump’s plan\, “clearly demonstrating its will for peace”\, and placing the entire burden of acceptance of the plan on Israel\, saying “peace is not a one-winged bird.” \nLikewise\, Qatar has been hosting Hamas officials in its capitol\, Doha\, since 2012\, and has been paying Hamas’ salaries in Gaza. It has provided a base for various Hamas leaders including  Khaled Mashal\, member of Hamas’ five-person leadership council; Khalil Al-Haya\,  the de facto leader of Hamas since the death of Yahya Sinwar in October 2024; and Mohammad Ishmael Darwich\, Chairman of the Hamas leadership council. Doha has been airing the highly antisemitic Al-Jazeera\, particularly its Arabic version\, that is aired throughout many regions of the world. \nEgypt has its own set of problems. It has allowed the construction of tunnels and of smuggling routes from inside Gaza to the Sinai Peninsula within Egypt. Within Sinai we have seen vast military maneuvers\, and between July 16th and August 25th\, there were 384 drone incursions from Egypt into Israel. \nToday\, and this entire week is a time for celebration. With the sole exception of the Houthis in Yemen\, Israel has been able to eliminate a great deal of this existential threat. The Islamic Republic used their terror proxies to shield itself and to empower its strategic depth\, The biggest existential threat\, however\, emanates from the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the 12-Day War of June 13th through 24th\, Israel and the United States were able to eliminate a great deal of the nuclear and the ballistic threat\, as well as the cult of hero-worship for Ayatollah Ali Khomeini. This is a grand departure from previous US administrations and their philosophy which served to de-escalate the status of Israel and to embolden the Islamic Republic. Iran is now is encountering a period of destabilization. How likely is it that the Islamic Republic will rebuild their nuclear enrichment and ballistic missile program\, which is a core value of the regime? Will their goals of the elimination of Israel remain unchanged? Where are the regime’s current vulnerabilities? What must Israel and the United States do in order to undermine the regime’s survivability and possibly lead to the collapse of the regime and replace it with a more palatable alternative? \nAbout our Speaker: Barak Seener is an Associate Research Fellow at the Henry Jackson Society and the founder of Strategic Intelligentia and the Gulf Futures Forum. What sort of policy can Israel embark upon with Syria to be able to give its citizens defensible borders? \n\nAs assurances have been made that Hezbollah will be disbanded in Lebanon\, and the Syrian government of Ahmed al-Sharaa has been charged with war crimes\, we are inviting Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi of the Alma Center in Israel to analyze and discuss how Israel can handle all of the myriad demands on its armed forces and how to best protect their civilian population.\nAbout Our Speaker: \nLieutenant Colonel (Res.) This is after 22 months of heartbreaking war\, where the double objectives have been the dismantling of Hamas and the rescuing of the hostages. \nWhat has happened to create a change of military strategy for Israel? \nIsrael has eliminated much of the Hamas leadership\, including Yahya Sinwar on October  16\, 2024\, in Rafah\, Gaza\, Mohammad Deif on July 13\, 2024\, in al-Mawasi\, Gaza and Ismael Haniyeh on July 24\, 2024\, in Tehran\, Iran. Israel estimates that they have eliminated 14\,000 to 20\,000 members of Hamas since the start of the war. Yet\, Hamas has been able to regenerate thousands of young recruits. \nIsrael is not safe as long as Hamas exists. Hamas has displayed itself as a primitive terrorist group that hides behind its own civilians as it murders our own. \nMany of the families of the hostages are deeply concerned\, fearing that this might well risk the lives of their loved ones.  We know\, however\, that the lives of the hostages have been the “life insurance policy” of the Hamas terrorist group. \nYet\, we also know that members of Hamas have been slowly starving to death Israeli hostages captured on October 7\, 2023\, such as 24-year-old Evyatar David and 22 -year-old Ram Bravslavski. \nWe will also assess the prospects for what awaits after this conflict winds down\, including the establishment of a Palestinian state following the conclusion of this conflict\, as envisioned by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer\, French President Emmanuel Macron\, and Irish President Michael D.  Higgins\, among others\,  and how it will affect the geopolitics of the region. \nHere to discuss this escalation of the war is David Wurmser. \nAbout Our Speaker: Dr. David Wurmser is a Senior Analyst for Middle East Affairs at the Center for Security Policy\, as well as a Fellow at the Misgav Institute for National Security and Zionist Strategy. The benefit was that manpower and weapons would no longer be smuggled from Tehran\, through Baghdad\, Damascus and ultimately to Hezbollah forces in Beirut\, and throughout Lebanon. \nA new man has emerged\, Ahmed al-Sharaa\, (a.k.a. Abu-Mohammad al-Julani)\, who took control of Syria. Many had erroneously assumed he would be a more moderate force for Syria. However\, last week\, we saw the horrific images from the Druze city of Sweida of women being captured as sex-slaves and raped\, children being kidnapped and murdered\, as well as the wholesale humiliation and slaughter of many men\, women and children. For days\, clashes raged between Druze and local Bedouin forces\, immediately joined by Syrian government forces. More than 1100 people have been killed. \nThroughout this\, we saw over 1\,000 Israeli Druze cross the border fence to enter their Druze brethren in Syria. \nOnly one nation in the world came to their aid\, the state of Israel. \nAs I write this\, Israel is now in talks with Syria. First\, however\, there should be certain benchmarks ascertained: What sort of protections will there be for the Druze community\, the Kurds\, the Christians and the Alawites? How secure will the border be for Israel? Will Israel be able to keep control of its buffer zone to prevent hostile forces from encroaching upon Israel? SUMMARY:The State of the Relationship Between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump
DESCRIPTION:The transcript will be available here \nAs all of you are aware by now\, Israel has embarked upon “Operation Rising Lion”\, striking out against the heart of the Iranian nuclear threat against Israel. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declared\, “We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense.”  He also said on Thursday night\, “Tonight\, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.” \nHowever\, President Trump did declare on Friday morning that “The United States will defend Israel\, if attacked.” \nThe United States was certainly made aware of what was about to occur. They had enough time on Thursday to remove non-essential employees  and diplomatic families from the Middle East. \nAs well all are aware \, since the Islamic Revolution of 1979\, The Islamic Republic of Iran has described Israel as “The Minor Satan” and the United States as “The Great Satan.” There certainly is evidence that the Islamic Republic has been working on intercontinental ballistic missiles.  However\, Israel had acted totally on its own\, on Thursday evening\, and we\, in Israel have been advised to stay close to our shelters\, and are in for a long\, hard campaign. \nIsrael is fighting an existential war today\, but Iran could try to strike at the United States tomorrow. Israel destroyed the Natanz nuclear facility\, and eliminated its top IRGC Commanders\, unaware in their homes\, as well as its top nuclear scientists. \nWhat has happened to the strength of the relationship between the United States and Israel? Is the United States simply relying on Israel to protect its national security interests\, and those of the entire civilized\, free world? \nAre reports of a chilling of relations accurate? What about the reports of the President’s relationship with isolationist influencers\, such as Tucker Carlson\, Candace Owens and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene? \nAnd finally: Israel is fighting an existential war on 7 fronts\,  but the “head of the snake” has always been Tehran. Recent reports from the IAEA say that Iran has enough highly enriched uranium for at least  9 to10  nuclear bombs. Israel does not have the strategic depth to absorb even one bomb.  Does the United States understand that Israel is simply the appetizer\, and that Iran is working on intercontinental ballistic missiles to reach its main course\, the United States\, as well as certain American military installations in the Middle East? Will the United States run out of patience with Iran and assist Israel in its existential struggle? DESCRIPTION:The transcript will be available here \n  \nEver since October 7th\, Colonel Richard Kemp has been on the ground in Israel\, in Gaza\, and in the terror tunnels throughout Lebanon. He\, undoubtedly\, has been one of Israel’s strongest advocates within the international community.  How do the actions of Israel during this long war stack up against those of other nations who have been attacked and are forced to fight within an urban combat setting? \nHow is Israel able to achieve its war goals\, with members of the international community parroting Hamas’ numbers and their exaggerated humanitarian claims? After 20 months\, will the Israeli people still have the will to continue to fight its war on seven fronts? Can we defeat a radical terrorist ideology? How important is the success of this war to the defeat of antisemitism? \nAnd finally: How would he advise the government of Israel while facing down the existential threat of an Iranan nuclear bomb? \nAbout Colonel Richard Kemp \n Colonel Richard Kemp has spent most his life fighting terrorism and insurgency\, commanding British troops on the front line of some of the world’s toughest hotspots\, including Afghanistan\, Iraq\, the Balkans and Northern Ireland. He is now a writer\, a prolific journalist\, media commentator and motivational speaker. He provides strategic consultancy services on leadership\, security\, intelligence\, counter-terrorism and defense. \nRichard was sent to Kabul\, Afghanistan in 2003 to take command of British Forces in Afghanistan. Realizing that there was an increasing terrorist threat\, but no resources or plans in place to deal with it\, he immediately put together an unconventional force of British troops and US Marines. They begged\, borrowed and stole equipment to gain intelligence and launch covert surveillance. Writing about Richard\, the Canadian general commanding international forces at the time said: “His efforts led directly to the most successful offensive counter-terrorist operations in Kabul\, with several key terrorist leaders now under arrest\, significantly setting back the enemy campaign.” Along the way\, Richard helped to disarm local warlords\, trained the fledgling Afghan army and police and even played a part in preventing a coup d’état against President Hamid Karzai. \nRichard joined the British Army the day after he left school\, and spent the next 30 years in some of the world’s most notorious trouble spots.  In 1993 he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire by the Queen for intelligence work in Northern Ireland. Most of the last five years of Richard’s military career were spent in Downing Street as head of the international terrorism team at the Joint Intelligence Committee\, where he was responsible for producing assessments on the growing global terrorist problem for the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. \nColonel Kemp is a frequent contributor to television and print media\, and is the author of Attack State Red\,  with Chris Hughes\, and account of the Afghanistan campaign undertaken by the Royal Anglican Regiment.  Colonel Kemp is Chairman of the UK Friends of the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers (UK-AWIS)\, the UK branch of AWIS\, an Israeli organization managed by the Israel Defense Forces and headed by General Yoram Yair. Colonel Richard Kemp was a 2017 recipient of EMET’s coveted “Speaker of the Truth Award.”
