How will their election of a leader reflect on the way Israel will handle the Jewish state’s relationship with the Palestinians and the emerging nuclear danger from Iran? \nHere to discuss this and more is the highly acclaimed author and journalist\, Caroline Glick. \nAbout the speaker: Caroline Glick is an American-born Israeli journalist\, newspaper editor and writer. She is the deputy managing editor of The Jerusalem Post and writes for Makor Rishon. She is also the Senior Fellow for Middle East Affairs at Center for Security Policy. \nCaroline was born in Chicago and made aliyah in 1991. She joined the IDF that summer and served as an officer for more than five years. As an IDF captain from 1994 to 1996\, she was coordinator of negotiations with the PLO in the office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in Judea\, Samaria and Gaza. \nAfter leaving the IDF\, she worked as the assistant to the director-general of the Israel Antiquities Authority. She then returned to geo-politics serving as assistant foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from 1997 to1998. \nIn March 2002\, she became deputy managing editor of The Jerusalem Post. During Operation Iraqi Freedom\, Caroline covered the US-led war in Iraq as an embedded journalist with the US Army’s 3rd Infantry Division. Reporting for the Post\, Maariv\, Israel TV’s Channel 2 and The Chicago Sun Times\, she was one of the only female journalists on the front lines with the US forces and the first Israeli journalist to report from liberated Baghdad. \nCaroline’s writings have been published in numerous newspapers and online journals: in 2004\, in addition to her work at the Post\, she resumed writing for Makor Rishon as the paper’s lead columnist and commentator. Caroline is the senior fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs at the Center for Security Policy in Washington\, DC and routinely briefs senior administration officials and members of Congress on issues of joint Israeli-American concern. \nIn 2008\, Caroline’s first solo book\, Shackled Warrior: Israel and the Global Jihad was published by Gefen Publishers. SUMMARY:Is the Iranian Regime Finally Beginning to Crack?
DESCRIPTION:Iran has been confronted with the largest wave of mass protests since Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini first seized the reigns of power in 1979. These demonstrations followed the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16th\, who was brutally beaten by the so-called “morality police” because a few strands of hair showed through her hijab. \nSince then\, Iranians of all ethnic groups\, ages\, and genders have joined in on these massive demonstrations\, and have courageously stood up to the barbaric savagery of the regime\, many of which have been arrested\, thrown from buildings\, or shot on the spot. \nOn Tuesday\, the Iranian parliament voted to employ the death penalty against the protesters. At least 14\,000 have been arrested\, and the Norwegian-based Iran Human Rights Organization has reported that at least 300 have been executed so far. \nYet\, some are arguing that there are some hopeful signs that the regime is beginning to crack. One of these analysts is Reul Marc Gerecht\, who together with Ray Takeyh wrote this piece for last week’s Wall Street Journal \nAbout the speaker: Reuel Marc Gerecht is a senior fellow at FDD where he focuses on Iran\, Iraq\, Afghanistan\, terrorism\, and intelligence. SUMMARY:While America Sleeps\, Iran and Russia Are Subverting the United Nations
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nThis year\, we have witnessed Russia and Iran blatantly violate the founding principles of the UN Charter. As Russia has executed its brutal war on Ukraine\, Iran has blatantly violated UN Resolution 2231\, which\, among other limitations\, prohibits the sale and transfer of ballistic missiles and drones. As you are all most likely aware by now\, Iran has been providing hundreds of drones to Russia to prosecute its war on Ukraine\, killing and maiming hundreds of Ukrainian civilians\, making it an accessory to the crime.  Yet no one seems to be paying attention. \nUN Security Council Resolution has several parts\, one of which modifies and incorporates some of the UN’s former sanctions against Iran\, but each sanction has a “sunset clause”. In less than a year from now\, on October 23\, 2023\, the UN sanction prohibiting the sale and transfer of ballistic missiles and drones will expire. And to make matters worse\, on October 18\, 2025\, all United Nations sanctions against Iran are set to expire. This is occurring as Iran is perilously close to a nuclear breakout. SUMMARY:Nexus of Evil: Russo-Iranian Collusion and the Growing Danger of War
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nAs Russia executes its immoral war against Ukraine\, it has become apparent that over 300 of the drones that the Russian army has used to rain down over the Ukrainian civilian and military infrastructures have been manufactured in Iran and sold to Moscow. We also have learned that the Iranians are now manufacturing drones on Russian soil. Just this week\, National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby said that the relationship between Iran and Russia is developing into a “full-grown partnership.” He added that “the support is flowing both ways”\, and that Moscow offers “an unprecedented level of military and technical support” including collaborating between the two nations “on areas like weapons development and training.” There is also a growing concern that “Russia is providing Iran with advanced military components”\, which could include highly sophisticated air missile defense systems such as the Russian S-400\, which is considered the most capable air missile defense system yet invented. \nAs these two adversaries to US national security interests develop deeper partnerships\, this can only empower them and increase their appetite for war\, threatening to destabilize the entire Middle East and of course\, posing an existential threat to the state of Israel. \nAbout the Speaker: Dr. Stephen J. SUMMARY:Speaking In Solidarity With the Brave Dissidents in Iran
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nAs we write these words\, every single one of Iran’s 33 provinces and over 100 of the Islamic Republic’s cities has seen their streets roiling over in protests against their repressively brutal tyranny. Approximately 18\,000 Iranian dissidents have been rounded up and imprisoned\, and approximately 500 have been randomly shot or otherwise killed in the streets during the protests\, including 58 children 16 years of age and below. Two people have already been hung\, and the regime is planning to execute several more. \nYet\, these courageous protesters are not discouraged. The regime’s venality has not deterred them\, one iota\, but has had a paradoxical effect and they have somehow summoned up the courage to keep continuing in their valiant struggle for freedom from this suffocating theocracy. \nWhat’s propelling them to continue on in the face of the possibility that they might be shot on the spot\, rounded up to be tortured or raped in a notorious Iranian prison\, or even face execution by hanging? Will the momentum continue? Does this signal the beginning of the end of the Islamic Republic? SUMMARY:The Fragile Israeli-Jordanian Peace: Escalating Friction\, the Impact on Regional Security\, and U.S. Interests
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n\n  \nForeign policy expert Dr. Jonathan Schanzer published an insightful report on the state of Israeli/Jordanian relations entitled\, Neither Here Nor There: Jordan and the Abraham Accords\, in which he summarized\, “For the two decades that followed [the 1994 peace agreement between Israel and Jordan]\, observers referred to Jordanian-Israeli ties as the “warm peace\,” particularly compared to the frosty ties Israel maintained with Egypt and the collapse of Oslo. However\, since 2020\, if not before then\, Jordanian peace has turned decidedly cold. It is especially frigid now compared to the rapidly growing ties between Israel and the UAE\, Bahrain\, and Morocco. Even relations between Israel and Egypt have improved. With rhetoric that increasingly echoes the sentiments of rejectionist Arab nationalists or even Islamists\, Jordan’s current policies appear to run counter to the current trendlines of the Middle East…. All of this should come as unwelcome news to the United States and to America’s Middle East allies. Avivi fulfilled various command positions in the Corps of Engineers\, leading thousands of soldiers in a dynamic combat environment. \nAvivi served as Brigade commander\, Deputy Division commander\, and head of the Military School of Engineers. Signed into law by President Trump in 2018\, the Taylor Force Act led to all economic aid to the PA being put on hold until the State Department certifies that the legislation’s requirements were met. Unfortunately\, upon entering office\, President Biden and his State Department have ignored the law and reinstituted sending hundreds of millions of dollars to the PA annually subverting the will of Congress and the American people. \nJoin us for a discussion of what led to the passage of the Taylor Force Act\, why its enforcement is critically important\, and the litigation that will hopefully lead to U.S. policy that ends sending U.S. taxpayer dollars to the terrorists in Israel. We will be joined by plaintiffs Sarri Singer\, a survivor of a Palestinian terror attack in Jerusalem\, and Stuart Force whose son Taylor was murdered on the boardwalk in Jaffa by a Palestinian terrorist and serves as the namesake of this important piece of legislation\, and Julie Strauss Levin\, one of the AFL lead attorneys representing the plaintiffs in this case. \nAbout the Speakers: \nStuart Force has a distinguished record of service to our country. Sarri was hospitalized for two weeks and then returned to New Jersey to be with family. Her story became high profile. DESCRIPTION:The late December murder of an Irish member of UNIFIL\, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon\, UNIFIL has once again brought some attention to the failed state of Lebanon. UNIFIL was established in 1978 to temporarily maintain the peace between Israel and Hezbollah. Forty-five years after its formation\, we are examining whether it is fulfilling its mission\, what its relationship is with the Lebanese Armed Forces and its relationship with Hezbollah. \nThe state of Lebanon was once known as the “Riviera of the Middle East”. However\, since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran\, Lebanon has become a hostage of the Iranian terrorist group\, Hezbollah\, and is considered a success story for the Iranian regime. They have dreams of replicating further Shiite proxy states of Tehran throughout the globe. \nListen to David Schenker\, a renowned expert on the Levant\, as he examines whether UNIFIL has succeeded in its mission\, what its relationship is with Hezbollah\, and with the Lebanese Armed Forces. \nAbout the Speaker: David Schenker is the Taube Senior Fellow at The Washington Institute and director of the Program on Arab Politics. Confirmed by the Senate on June 5\, 2019\, he served as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs through January 2021. In that capacity\, he was the principal Middle East advisor to the secretary of state and the senior official overseeing the conduct of U.S. policy and diplomacy in a region stretching from Morocco to Iran to Yemen\, with responsibility for eighteen countries\, the Palestinian Authority\, and Western Sahara. He also supervised more than 9\,000 staff and administered an annual budget in excess of $7 billion. \nIn policy terms\, he led the bureau’s efforts to advance American interests abroad and strengthen U.S. partnerships and alliances across the region. Via diplomacy and the effective allocation of resources and assistance—as well as through imposition of sanctions—he worked to promote human rights\, deter terrorism\, fight corruption\, and push back against regional adversaries. In addition to developing and implementing the U.S. strategy on China in the region\, he worked to heal the Gulf rift between Qatar and neighboring states\, resolve intractable conflicts in Libya and Yemen\, consolidate the Abraham Accords\, and counter malign Iranian influence in the Middle East. \nPrior to joining the State Department\, Schenker worked as the Aufzien Fellow and director of the Beth and David Geduld Program on Arab Politics at The Washington Institute from 2006 to 2019. During that period\, he authored dozens of op-eds\, journal articles\, and PolicyWatches about Jordan\, Lebanon\, Hezbollah\, and Egypt\, among other topics\, and contributed chapters to Institute monographs such as Beyond Islamists and Autocrats: Prospects for Political Reform Post Arab Spring (2017) and No Good Outcome: How Israel Could be Drawn into the Syrian Conflict (2013). He also published a chapter on U.S.-Lebanese relations in Lebanon: Liberation\, Conflict\, and Crisis (Palgrave\, 2009)\, and authored Egypt’s Enduring Challenges (2011)\, an Institute monograph focusing on the post-Mubarak situation. \nPreviously\, from 2002 to 2006\, Schenker served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as Levant country director\, the Pentagon’s top policy aide on the Arab nations of the Levant. In that capacity\, he advised the secretary and other senior Pentagon leadership on the military and political affairs of Syria\, Lebanon\, Jordan\, and the Palestinian territories. He was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service in 2005. \nPrior to joining the government in 2002\, Schenker focused on Arab governance issues as a research fellow at The Washington Institute\, and worked as a project coordinator for a Bethesda-based contractor responsible for large\, centrally funded USAID programs in Egypt and Jordan. He also authored the Institute books Dancing with Saddam: The Strategic Tango of Jordanian-Iraqi Relations (copublished with Lexington Books\, 2003) and Palestinian Democracy and Governance: An Appraisal of the Legislative Council (2001). DESCRIPTION:  \n\nLast weekend\, a Palestinian child of merely 13 years of age\, shot an Israeli father and son as they were eating in a Jerusalem restaurant. It is no wonder. Ever since the Oslo Accords were signed on September 13\, 1993\, many have thought of the Palestinian Authority as the reasonable partner\, working in opposition to Hamas\, Palestinian Islamic Jihad\, the Lions’ Den\, and other terrorist groups. Yes\, they do work in opposition to those groups\, and in coordination with the IDF\, to save their own skin. However\, they themselves have been guilty of the worst sort of child abuse imaginable\, using every possible means\, the media\, textbooks\, pageants\, sports events\, and summer camps\, to inebriate their youth into thinking that there is only one state\, named “Palestine” that extends from the (Jordan) River to the (Mediterranean) Sea. And worse still\, that becoming a “martyr”\, and killing innocent Israeli and American civilians is the greatest thing one can possibly do for one’s people and one’s nation. \nCome listen to the expert\, Itamar Marcus\, who has devoted the last 30 years of his life to exposing this\, and why it is time that we eliminate the wishful thinking that the Palestinian Authority is the “good cop”\, opposing these other terrorist organizations\, who are the “bad cop”\, and why it is time we finally label the P.A.\, along with these other terrorist organizations\, as the worst sorts of child abusers imaginable. \nAbout the Speaker: Itamar Marcus\, Founder and Director of Palestinian Media Watch\, is one of the world’s foremost experts on the Palestinian Authority (PA). As I write these words\, the first set of bills of the proposed legislation was read before the Knesset\, the Israeli parliament\, and the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are rife with demonstrators\, of an unprecedented number\, perhaps since the proposed Gaza withdrawal of 2005. \nWhat exactly are these reforms and do they actually signal “the end of Israeli democracy” as is so often heard? Is some sort of compromise possible? \nJoining us to answer these questions and more is Professor Avi Bell. \nAbout the Speaker: Avi Bell is an Israeli Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law and at Bar-Ilan University’s Faculty of Law. Bell received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Chicago\, and his S.J.D. from Harvard. He also debated Richard Goldstone in a debate at Stanford Law School entitled “The Goldstone Report and the Application of International Law to the Arab-Israeli Conflict\,” where a few days later\, Goldstone said that “contrary to the report’s assertions\, Israel did not intentionally target civilians.” \nIn 2006\, Bell criticized Human Rights Watch for its reports on the Second Lebanon War\, claiming that the organization’s claims “mislead readers and betray … bias\,” and that “HRW investigation [in Srifa\, Lebanon] was either professionally incompetent or a complete fabrication” and “nothing more than window dressing for predetermined anti-Israel conclusions.” Human Rights Watch responded by claiming that Bell “displays a curious ignorance about even the basic requirements of international humanitarian law” However\, a 2007 report of Human Rights Watch admitted that its “allegation [of criminality in Srifa] turned out to be wrong.” The report stated that “eyewitnesses were not always forthcoming about the identity of those that died\, and in the case of Srifa\, misled our researchers … a visit to the graveyard made it possible to establish that most of those killed in Srifa were actually combatants\,” and concluding that “further Human Rights Watch investigations into a deadly strike at Srifa established that an Israeli attack there killed 17 combatants and five civilians on July 19\, not the 26 civilians claimed in Fatal Strikes” and “Human Rights Watch regrets the serious inaccuracy in its initial Fatal Strikes report.” \nBell was formerly a visiting professor at Fordham University School of Law and the University of Connecticut School of Law. SUMMARY:Is it Too Late to Stop Iran from Getting the Bomb?
DESCRIPTION:  \nRead Transcript Here \nSince this webinar had first been arranged the world had woken up\, last Friday\, to the surprise announcement that Beijing has brokered stronger ties between Riyadh and Tehran\, radically upending the world order that we had known of\, with the United States at the helm. This has reverberated around capitals all over the world. How does this change the calculus of Iran’s development of nuclear capability\, of Israel’s ability to attack Iran\, if it so chooses\, using Saud Arabian air space? What does it say about America’s role in the world\, China’s intentions\, and Saudi Arabia as a long-term ally of the United States? \nAccording to the International Atomic Energy Administration (IAEA)\, in less than 12 days\, Iran will have enough highly enriched uranium for at least three nuclear bombs. The IAEA has detected traces of uranium particles at the Fordow Enrichment Facility at 83.7 percent\, just a few days glide to the 90 percent level necessary for a nuclear bomb. The IAEA also has said that it can no longer reestablish any certainty regarding Iran’s activities under a revived JCPOA\, such as the production of advanced centrifuges and heavy water\, due to Iran’s decision in February 2021 to deny the IAEA access to data from key JCPOA-related monitoring and surveillance equipment and because of Iran’s decision in June 2022 to remove all such equipment\, including video cameras and online enrichment monitoring devices. \nYet\, on Saturday\, March 4th\, the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other top officials in Tehran and gave vague assurances that these concerns would be addressed. \nThe questions remain: Can we trust the nuclear watchdog agency\, the IAEA? And can Iran be stopped from developing a nuclear bomb before it is too late? \nHere to answer these questions and more is Rich Goldberg. \nAbout the Speaker: Richard Goldberg is a senior advisor at FDD. From 2019-2020\, Richard served as the Director for Countering Iranian Weapons of Mass Destruction for the White House National Security Council. A leader in efforts to expand U.S. missile defense cooperation with Israel\, Richard played a key role in U.S. funding for the Arrow-3 program\, Iron Dome and the deployment of an advanced missile defense radar to the Negev Desert. \nIn the Senate\, Richard emerged as a leading architect of the toughest sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was the lead Republican negotiator for three rounds of sanctions targeting the Central Bank of Iran\, the SWIFT financial messaging service\, and entire sectors of the Iranian economy. Richard also drafted and negotiated legislation promoting human rights and democracy in Iran\, including sanctions targeting entities that provide the Iranian regime with the tools of repression. His Iran sanctions work was featured in the book The Iran Wars.

They recorded 3\,697 incidents-10 per day\, (and those are the ones that they are aware of.) What is most disturbing is that 494 of these took place in kindergarten through 12th-grade institutions. Over the last few decades\, we have witnessed the meteoric rise of antisemitism on college campuses. Last year alone saw a 41% increase in the number of antisemitic incidents on college campuses according to the ADL. Many such incidents masquerade under the thin veneer of anti-Israelism. Universities are the incubators of ideas\, and over the decades we have watched as the virus of antisemitism has metastasized itself from the Middle East programs\, throughout the humanities and social sciences\, onto the campus and now are occupying the corridors of power in foreign policy\, and in business and industry. \nFrom university campuses to the boardroom\, the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law uses legal tools to address this growing scourge. Join us to know your rights and learn how the law can make a difference. \nAbout the Speaker: Alyza D. Lewin is the President of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law (“LDB”)\, a non-profit organization established to advance the civil and human rights of the Jewish people and promote justice for all. The Brandeis Center conducts research\, education and legal advocacy to combat the resurgence of anti-Semitism on college and university campuses. It empowers students by training them to understand their legal rights\, and educates administrators on best practices to combat racism and anti-Semitism on campus. Ms. Lewin is also a co-founder and partner in Lewin & Lewin\, LLP where she has specialized in litigation\, mediation and government relations. Her experience includes criminal defense\, civil litigation and anti-discrimination matters. \nMs. Lewin led the litigation team that represented Avi Zinger\, the Israeli licensee of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream\, in the lawsuit that Mr. Zinger filed against Unilever to prevent Ben & Jerry’s boycott of Israel. Ms. Lewin negotiated a successful resolution to that matter pursuant to which Avi Zinger obtained the right in perpetuity to sell Ben & Jerry’s ice cream everywhere in Israel and the territories using the Hebrew and Arabic logos. \nIn 2014\, Lewin argued Zivotofsky v. Kerry (the “Jerusalem Passport” case) before the U.S. Supreme Court\, a case involving the constitutionality of a law granting American citizens born in Jerusalem the right to list “Israel” as the place of birth on their U.S. passports. In Zivotofsky\, the Supreme Court held that the President of the United States has the exclusive authority to recognize foreign sovereigns. The case paved the way for President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel\, and recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. After 18 years\, Ms. Lewin brought this pro-bono case to a successful resolution in October 2020\, when Secretary of State Pompeo revised the US passport regulations and Ambassador David Friedman presented her client with the very first US passport to list “Israel” as place of birth for a US citizen born in Jerusalem. \nMs. Lewin\, together with her father Nathan Lewin\, also successfully represented the Boim family in its landmark civil tort litigation which established the right of American victims of terror to obtain damages under American law against organizations that knowingly provide financial support to international terrorist groups. \nMs. Lewin began her law career in Israel where she clerked on the Supreme Court for Deputy President Justice Menachem Elon. Ms. Lewin served as President of the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (“AAJLJ”) from 2012 – 2017. In January 2020\, Ms. Lewin was awarded the AAJLJ’s distinguished Pursuit of Justice Award. In December 2022\, Alyza was named by the Algemeiner to their J100 – as one of the “Top 100 people positively influencing Jewish Life.” \nMs. Lewin received her B.A. from Princeton University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. Ms. Lewin has also been trained as a mediator by the American Arbitration Association and the Center for Dispute Settlement. \nMs. Lewin is married and has four children.

He has been a visiting professor at Georgetown\, Johns Hopkins\, and Boston universities; a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; a Manfred Warner NATO Fellow; and a visiting fellow at the (London-based) International Institute for Strategic Studies. He was president of the Israel Association of International Studies; a member of the Political Strategic Committee of the National Planning Council; chairman of the National Security Curriculum Committee in the Ministry of Education; and a member of the Academic Committee of the IDF History Department. He has authored five books: Outcast Countries in the World Community (1985)\, War and Peace in Israeli Politics. Labor Party Positions on National Security (1991)\, Rabin and Israel’s National Security (1999)\, The Israeli-Turkish Entente (2001)\, and Israel’s National Security: Issues and Challenges since the Yom Kippur War (2008)\, and edited fourteen collections of scholarly articles. While at AEI Dr. Wurmser\, published Tyranny’s Ally: America’s Failure to Defeat Saddam Hussein. \nDr. Wurmser’s military service includes 11 years of intelligence experience in the U.S. Navy Reserves\, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander. LCDR Wurmser was mobilized during the Operational Vigilant Warrior following Iraq’s surge toward Kuwait in 1994 to serve on the Iraq Intelligence Task for the DIA. DESCRIPTION:  \nRead Transcript Here \n  \nOn May 14th\, after 5 years of a contentious presidency\, and 20 years of AKP (The Justice and Development Party) rule\, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will finally be facing some challenging opposition. Erdogan’s tenure as president has been marked by steadily eroding Turkish democracy and a tightening grip on power. He has engaged in widespread arrests of critics\, political opponents\, journalists\, and academics\, and has steadily been working to curtail free speech\, human rights\, and an independent judiciary. \nErdogan has consistently supported Hamas and has frequently made statements like “Whoever is on Israel’s side\, we are against them.” (July 28\, 2019). Turkey\, a member of NATO\, under Erdogan\, has bought Russian missile systems\, (which\, in 2019. led EMET to become involved in an effort to halt plans for his purchase of American F-35 planes)\, and has launched attacks against Kurdish allies of the United States in our fight against ISIS. \nOn Sunday\, Erdogan will finally be facing some tough opposition. Because of Erdogan’s slow and inept response to the earthquakes that rocked Turkey in February\, and their sky-high inflation\, the polls have been narrowing between Erdogan and his challenger\, Kemel Kilicdaroglu\, the leader of the main\, secular\, opposition party\, (CHP)\, the Republican People’s Party. \nCome hear renowned Turkish expert\, Sinan Ciddi of FDD\, as he explains the result of the upcoming Turkish elections\, and why it matters to the people of Turkey\, to NATO\, and to the Russian war on Ukraine\, the region\, and the globe. \nAbout the Speaker: Sinan Ciddi is a non-resident senior fellow at FDD and an expert on Turkish domestic politics and foreign policy. \nHe is also an Associate Professor of National Security Studies at Marine Corps University (MCU). Distinct from his articles and opinion editorials\, his book titled Kemalism in Turkish Politics: The Republican People’s Party: Secularism and Nationalism (Routledge\, January 2009) focuses on the electoral weakness of the Republican People’s Party. \nHe obtained his Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies\, University of London in 2007 in the field of Political Science. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n  \nAs Iran\, according to IAEA Director Rafael Grossi\, “is galloping toward a nuclear bomb”\, we are watching a rapid realignment of loyalties within the Middle East. Beijing has brokered an agreement between Riyadh and Tehran\, and many nations have renewed old alliances that we had thought\, only a few short years ago\, had been severed\, as a result of the Abraham Accords. We are watching as the Gulf Cooperation Council is embracing ties with Damascus\, despite the fact that Syrian President Bashir Assad had murdered hundreds of thousands of his own dissidents\, and created 5.5 million refugees\, since 2011. Syria’s allies\, Iran\, China\, and Russia are therefore feeling empowered\, not only within the Middle East but throughout the globe. \nHowever\, this new empowerment\, and the strength of the Iranian proxies that surround Israel\, might possibly lead to an existential challenge for Israel. How are the Israelis prepared for this challenge? Are they left\, once again\, feeling alone and abandoned within the Middle East? Where will the United States be\, in such a scenario? Beyond that\, where would Hezbollah and Hamas be during such a scenario? Would they jump into the fray\, forcing Israel to fight on all fronts? \nBrigadier General (Ret.) Amir Avivi is the Founder and CEO of Israel’s Defense and Security Forum (IDSF) which is comprised of more than 17\,000 senior reserve/retired officers\, commanders\, and operators from all branches of the Israeli security establishment. Retired from the IDF after more than 30 years of military\, counter-terrorism\, and national security experience\, he held various command positions in the Corps of Engineers leading thousands of soldiers in a dynamic environment combating terrorism. \nAbout the Speaker: Brigadier General Amir Avivi (ret.) concluded his service as the Head of the Auditing and Consulting Department of the Israeli Defense Establishment\, (including the Israel Defense Force\, the Ministry of Defense and Israeli Military Industries). In that position\, Avivi managed more than 100 military auditors and advisors. He was responsible for the audit of military readiness\, budgeting\, procurement\, projects\, bids\, cyber\, logistics\, infrastructure and operations. Avivi fulfilled various command positions in the Corps of Engineers leading thousands of soldiers in a dynamic combat environment. \nAvivi served as Brigade commander\, Deputy Division commander and head of the Military School of Engineers. He also served as the aide-de-camp for the Chief of the General Staff of the IDF\, Lt. Is it only found in the Islamist fundamentalist groups such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad\, or is this an integral part of Fatah and the PA? \nHere to answer these questions is Itamar Marcus\, Director of Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) \nAbout Our Speaker: Itamar Marcus\, founder and director of Palestinian Media Watch\, for over 20 years has researched the Palestinian Authority (PA) world\, and has written hundreds of reports and articles on PA activities\, statements\, education\, sports\, culture and other frameworks the PA controls\, as it relates to the peace process. Marcus was appointed by the Israel Government in 1999 to represent Israel in negotiations with the PA on incitement in the “Trilateral Anti Incitement Committee\,” chaired by the United States. Marcus makes regular presentations to legislators\, governments\, and other decision makers about the PA\, as it works with politicians across the political spectrum. SUMMARY:Are We Perilously Close to a Deal with Iran and What Can We Do About It?
DESCRIPTION:  \nRead Transcript Here \n  \nNumerous reports have been leaking out for several weeks now\, that the administration is perilously close to agreeing to a nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran\, and that Seoul and Washington have been working together to release approximately 7 billion dollars in Iranian assets\, in the event of that agreement. \nWe all know that this would simply serve to enrich\, enable and empower this brutal\, tyrannical regime\, which has terrorist proxies around the globe. Iran has one of the worst human rights records in the world. It has been engaged in a brutal crackdown\, arresting over 20\,000 of its own freedom-loving dissidents\, murdering at least 500 on the street\, and hanging at least 7. that we know of\, from the public square. We all know that Iran has been providing Russia with drones to execute its brutal war against the people of Ukraine\, and is perilously close to the possession of several nuclear bombs. This new deal takes the 2015 threshold at 3.67 percent of highly enriched uranium and has increased it to a 60 percent threshold\, (dangerously close to the 90 percent necessary for nuclear weaponry). Although traces of highly enriched uranium have been found in several Iranian nuclear sites at the 83.7 percent level\, this agreement relies basically on trust\, something that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not proven worthy of. \nIs the Biden White House perilously close to a nuclear deal with Iran? And what can the US Congress\, and we\, the American people do about it? \nAbout the speaker: Richard Goldberg is a senior advisor at FDD. From 2019-2020\, Richard served as the Director for Countering Iranian Weapons of Mass Destruction for the White House National Security Council. He previously served as chief of staff for Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and deputy chief of staff and senior foreign policy adviser to former U.S. Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois in both the U.S. House and Senate. \nAs a staff associate for the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State-Foreign Operations\, Richard worked on a wide range of issues related to U.S. foreign assistance\, including foreign military financing\, international security assistance\, international peacekeeping\, development\, global health and economic support funds. He was a founding staff director of the House U.S.-China Working Group and was among the first Americans ever to visit China’s human space launch center. A leader in efforts to expand U.S. missile defense cooperation with Israel\, Richard played a key role in U.S. funding for the Arrow-3 program\, Iron Dome and the deployment of an advanced missile defense radar to the Negev Desert. \nIn the Senate\, Richard emerged as a leading architect of the toughest sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was the lead Republican negotiator for three rounds of sanctions targeting the Central Bank of Iran\, the SWIFT financial messaging service\, and entire sectors of the Iranian economy. Richard also drafted and negotiated legislation promoting human rights and democracy in Iran\, including sanctions targeting entities that provide the Iranian regime with the tools of repression. His Iran sanctions work was featured in the book The Iran Wars. \nAs the governor’s chief of staff\, Richard managed government in America’s fifth-largest state with oversight of all day-to-day operations\, including homeland security\, public safety\, and public health. He also spearheaded the first-ever state legislation to divest public pension funds from companies engaged in boycotts of Israel\, which sparked a nationwide initiative in state capitols around America.
