SUMMARY:Why Pressuring Israel to Intervene in Russia’s Ukraine War is Misguided and Dangerous
DESCRIPTION:  \nAs Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is joined by Congressional lawmakers in condemning Israel for not providing Ukraine with military support in its war with Russia\, Israel is being placed in a precarious position that ignores geopolitical realities as well as logistical and military considerations and practicalities. The situation is extremely complex involving Iranian and Russian cooperation that some argue may be a testing ground for future aggression with Israel\, Israel’s military operations in Syria\, and the existence of a substantial Russian Jewish population that remains in Russia. Please join us for an in-depth conversation with Jonathan Tobin on why Israel should stay out of the war in Ukraine. \nAbout the speaker: Jonathan S. Tobin is Editor-in-Chief of the Jewish News Syndicate — JNS.org — an international wire service covering the Jewish world and Israel. He’s also a senior contributor for The Federalist and a columnist for Newsweek\, the New York Post\, Haaretz and Israel Hayom\, as well as a regular contributor for other publications such as The Washington Examiner and Commentary magazine. He covers the American political scene\, foreign policy\, the U.S.-Israel relationship\, Middle East diplomacy and the Jewish world. \nPrevious to becoming editor of JNS\, Mr. Tobin was executive editor\, senior online editor and chief political blogger for Commentary magazine. He also served as editor-in-chief of the Jewish Exponent in Philadelphia and editor of the Connecticut Jewish Ledger. \nMr. Tobin has won more than 50 awards including Top Columnist for Jewish publications ten times\, most recently in 2018 and 2019. He appears regularly on television commenting on politics in the United States and Israel\, foreign policy and Jewish affairs\, and lectures on college campuses and to Jewish communities. \nMr. Tobin was born in New York City\, attended local schools and studied history at Columbia University.

SUMMARY:Making Sense of the Recent Israeli Election
DESCRIPTION:On November 1st the citizens of Israel went to the polls and have spoken. They clearly elected a more right-wing government. Likud\, together with other members of the right-wing parties received 65 seats\, of the 120 in their Parliament\, the Knesset\, which is a clear majority and a 20-seat advantage over the left. What are some of the reasons why the Israeli people have decided to cast their votes to the right? Who will be part of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet? How will this government differ from the last in terms of Israel’s national security interests\, the increasing wave of terrorism from the Palestinians\, and the threat from Iran? Many on the left are somewhat hysterical that this election bodes the end of Israeli democracy. How does one respond to such allegations? How will this election affect the structure of the Israeli Supreme Court? How will this election affect relationships with the international community as a whole\, the Biden administration\, with the countries that have signed the Abraham Accords? \nHere to answer these questions and more is Alex Traiman \nAbout the speaker: Alex Traiman is the Managing Director and Jerusalem Bureau Chief of JNS.org. Alex has his finger on the pulse of everything that is happening in Israel and within the Israeli Knesset. He has written scores of articles and had directed and produced major films\, such critically acclaimed as “Iranium” and “Honor Diaries.”

SUMMARY:Is the Iranian Regime Finally Beginning to Crack?
DESCRIPTION:Iran has been confronted with the largest wave of mass protests since Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini first seized the reigns of power in 1979. These demonstrations followed the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16th\, who was brutally beaten by the so-called “morality police” because a few strands of hair showed through her hijab. \nSince then\, Iranians of all ethnic groups\, ages\, and genders have joined in on these massive demonstrations\, and have courageously stood up to the barbaric savagery of the regime\, many of which have been arrested\, thrown from buildings\, or shot on the spot. \nOn Tuesday\, the Iranian parliament voted to employ the death penalty against the protesters. At least 14\,000 have been arrested\, and the Norwegian-based Iran Human Rights Organization has reported that at least 300 have been executed so far. \nYet\, some are arguing that there are some hopeful signs that the regime is beginning to crack. One of these analysts is Reul Marc Gerecht\, who together with Ray Takeyh wrote this piece for last week’s Wall Street Journal \nAbout the speaker: Reuel Marc Gerecht is a senior fellow at FDD where he focuses on Iran\, Iraq\, Afghanistan\, terrorism\, and intelligence. He was previously a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and the director of the Middle East Initiative at the Project for the New American Century. Earlier\, he served as a Middle Eastern specialist at the CIA’s Directorate of Operations. Reuel is the author of The Wave: Man\, God\, and the Ballot Box in the Middle East (Hoover Institution Press\, 2011)\, Know Thine Enemy: A Spy’s Journey into Revolutionary Iran (Farrar\, Straus & Giroux\, 1997) and The Islamic Paradox: Shiite Clerics\, Sunni Fundamentalists\, and the Coming of Arab Democracy (AEI Press\, 2004). He has been a correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly\, as well as a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal\, The New York Times\, The Dispatch\, and other publications.

SUMMARY:Understanding China’s Global Goals and Alliances and Why They Threaten the World
DESCRIPTION:As China’s global ambitions – militarily\, technologically\, and economically – remain unanswered by the U.S.\, the world’s only superpower with the capability and wherewithal to meet global challenges\, threats to our standing and the security of our allies around the world are growing at a frightening pace. As the U.S. withdraws on the world stage and realigns its interests both domestically and internationally\, China’s rise may reach the point of no return. David P. Goldman joins us to discuss these critically important issues and what\, if anything\, we can do to stop China’s march to develop a new pax Sinica in the Middle East\, replacing the pax Americana that the Obama administration ended\, and a regional hegemony in Asia that will project power – and fear – far and wide \nAbout the speaker: David P. Goldman is Deputy Editor of Asia Times and a Washington Fellow of the Claremont Institute. He headed research groups at Bank of America\, Credit Suisse\, and other Wall Street firms\, and was a partner at Reorient Group\, a Hong Kong investment bank. He has consulted for the US Department of Defense and the National Security Council. His most recent book is You Will Be Assimilated: China’s Plan to Sino-Form the World.
