SUMMARY:Is Israel's Qualitative Military Edge Eroding?
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe transcript will be available here \n  \nThis week\, Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman\, amidst much pageantry and fanfare\, visited President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. What was promised to Riyadh was two squadrons of F 35 jets\, a joint civil nuclear energy program and nearly 300 tanks. Meanwhile\, despite assurances from Lebanese President Joseph Auon that Hezbollah would be disabled\, there have been no demonstrable signs of that. On November 10th\, President Trump also met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa\, the first time a Syrian President has visited the White House. President Trump had described the former al-Quada leader as a “ young\, attractive guy-tough guy with a strong past.” Only months ago\, there was a $10 million bounty on his head. On November 6th\, exactly 4 days before the Trump-al Sharaa meeting\, the United Nations lifted all sanctions against al-Sharaa. Meanwhile\, in defiance of their international commitments\, Iran has thrown out the International Atomic Energy Administration inspectors. \nWhat is going on in the Middle East today\, and what is happening to the US legal obligation that Israel always maintains a Qualitative Military Edge? \nAbout Our Speaker: Hazem Alghabra\, born in Damascus Syria\, is the founder and president of Frontiers Consultants\, a Washington DC-based consultancy firm that provides public relations and crisis management solutions with a focus on the Middle East and the United States. Prior to starting his firm\, Alghabra held multiple positions with the U.S. Department of State including senior advisor for public affairs at the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Alghabra provides daily insight and analysis as a commentator on a vast array of television stations including i24\, Keshet\, Alarabyia\, Sky News\, BBC\, and Alsharq-Bloomberg.

SUMMARY:Hazem Alghabra and the Fate of Religious and Ethnic Minorities in Syria
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe transcript will be available here \n  \nIn December of 2024\, many people were somewhat relieved that after the 50 year reign of the Alawite family of Hafez and Bashir-al-Assad\, their time at the helm in Syria was coming to a close. The benefit was that manpower and weapons would no longer be smuggled from Tehran\, through Baghdad\, Damascus and ultimately to Hezbollah forces in Beirut\, and throughout Lebanon. \nA new man has emerged\, Ahmed al-Sharaa\, (a.k.a. Abu-Mohammad al-Julani)\, who took control of Syria. Many had erroneously assumed he would be a more moderate force for Syria. However\, last week\, we saw the horrific images from the Druze city of Sweida of women being captured as sex-slaves and raped\, children being kidnapped and murdered\, as well as the wholesale humiliation and slaughter of many men\, women and children. For days\, clashes raged between Druze and local Bedouin forces\, immediately joined by Syrian government forces. More than 1100 people have been killed. \nThroughout this\, we saw over 1\,000 Israeli Druze cross the border fence to enter their Druze brethren in Syria. \nOnly one nation in the world came to their aid\, the state of Israel. \nAs I write this\, Israel is now in talks with Syria. First\, however\, there should be certain benchmarks ascertained: What sort of protections will there be for the Druze community\, the Kurds\, the Christians and the Alawites? How secure will the border be for Israel? Will Israel be able to keep control of its buffer zone to prevent hostile forces from encroaching upon Israel? Will Israel be able to maintain its control of the 10 military bases in southern Syria since the Assad regime fell? \nAbout Our Speaker: Hazem Alghabra\, born in Damascus Syria\, is the founder and president of Frontiers Consultants\, a Washington DC-based consultancy firm that provides public relations and crisis management solutions with a focus on the Middle East and the United States. SUMMARY:SPECIAL WEBINAR: Navigating through the Syrian Complexity
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe transcript will be available here. \nThe Syrian situation is not as facile as many in the United States would like to believe. Although the evolution of the rebel movement began with a few innocent children writing on the wall in the beginning of the Arab Spring of 2011\, that “Assad must go”\, by now elements of ISIS\, Al Qaeda  and the HTS\, which is on the US list of terrorist organizations\, have joined in with the Sunni rebels. We know that on one side is Iranian and Russian backed Bashar Assad. Who is actually the good guy here\, or are there none? \nHere to help walk us through this situation is Hazem Alghabra. \nAbout Our Speaker: \nHazem Alghabra\, born in Damascus Syria\, is the founder and president of Frontiers Consultants\, a Washington DC-based consultancy firm that provides public relations and crisis management solutions with a focus on the Middle East and the United States. Alghabra is also the North America partner for the Israel-based Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs.
