Endowment for Middle East Truth – Legislative Assistant
     Founded in 2005, The Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET) is a Washington, D.C.-based think tank and policy center with an unabashedly pro-America and pro-Israel stance. EMET, which means truth in Hebrew, prides itself on challenging the falsehoods and misrepresentations that abound in U.S. Middle East policy.
     EMET provides research and analysis which challenges misrepresentations and never bows to political correctness. EMET develops close working relationships with Senators and Members of Congress, and provides them with the information and analysis they need, while combating efforts by other interest groups to influence Congress with misrepresentations about Israel and the Middle East. EMET provides fact-based briefings to Senators, Members of Congress, their staff, and the general public.
     The Legislative Assistant will be responsible for cultivating close relationships with congressional offices through ongoing meetings, briefings, drafting of policy papers, and research of Middle East policies and antisemitism. While all EMET staff work remotely, this position will involve going to Capitol Hill for in-person meetings.
Responsibilities of the Legislative Assistant include:
  • Coordinating meetings, discussing relevant issues with offices of Senators and Congressmen, and following up with staffers
  • Drafting policy papers and Opinion-Editorials on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East
  • Drafting and updating fact sheets on various antisemitism and Middle East topics
  • Moderating questions during the weekly webinars
Important Qualities:
  • Master’s degree in Middle East Studies, international relations or a related field OR a bachelor’s and at least 2 years experience
  • Relevant experience on Capitol Hill, in Jewish organizations or on the issues of Middle East or antisemitism
  • A pro-American and pro-Israel passion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
  • Must feel comfortable discussing relevant issues with Congress members and their staff
  • Extensive knowledge about Israel and Iran and general knowledge about the entire Middle East
  • Center-right and hawkish about the survival of the state of Israel

Salary is commensurate with experience
