SUMMARY:Capitol Hill Seminar – An Examination of What is Occurring on the Streets of Iran Today
DESCRIPTION:Capitol Hill Seminar – An Examination of What is Occurring on the Streets of Iran Today and Whether it Signals a Crack in the Tyrannical Hold of the Regime \n\nFEATURING: \nKen Timmerman – political writer and conservative activist who was the 2012 Republican nominee for U.S. Representative for the newly redrawn Maryland’s 8th congressional district \nManda Zand-Ervin – Iranian writer\, thinker and human rights activist born \nDr. Walid Phares – American scholar and conservative political pundit \n\nRSVP Here \nAbout this Seminar: While much of the American public has been obsessed with the impeachment proceedings thousands of brave dissidents have been demonstrating throughout the streets of Iran\, risking their lives in an attempt to overthrow the brutal chokehold of their Islamist regime. At least 1\,500 demonstrators have been brutally murdered by the regime. Most of the population were born after the 1979 Revolution and resent the repressive atmosphere of their suffocating theocracy. \nFor many of the trouble spots in the region\, and the world\, the Iranian regime is the chief engineer in its struggle for regional and global hegemony. The sanctions against Iran seem to be working to weaken the economy as well as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps\, and the recent assassination of Qassem Soleimani may be a tough blow for the regime to recover from. \nAre we beginning to notice a crack in the regime? How long can such a regime of fear and repression sustain itself when the will of most of the people is not behind it? Are we doing all that we can to assist these courageous dissidents in their struggle for freedom? Here to answer these questions and more\, are some of the nation’s leading experts.

SUMMARY:"Holding Social Media Accountable for Providing Support to Terror Organizations"
DESCRIPTION:Shurat HaDin-Israel Law Center and The Endowment for Middle East Truth invite you to: \n“Holding Social Media Accountable for Providing Support to Terror Organizations” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP Here\nWednesday\, March 9\, 2018\n10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.*\n\nU.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center\nRoom 201\nWashington\, D.C. \nRefreshments to be served. All dietary laws observed.\n*Kindly arrive at 9:45am so that we may begin the program promptly. \n \nFor those of you who are unable to attend\, please watch LIVE on Shurat HaDin’s Facebook page! \nThe creation of the Internet and the advent of the handheld Information Age have revolutionized every aspect of modern life. A dark side haunts these new technologies\, however. The Internet and the social media platforms have been insidiously used by hate groups\, criminal enterprises\, and terrorist factions to promote their perilous agenda. Social media has allowed terrorist groups including Hezbollah\, ISIS and Hamas to become public entities with tens of thousands of followers\, fan pages\, news sites\, and media production companies. The use of social media to promote extremist ideologies and incite individuals to engage in terrorist violence is dangerously effective and has established a new front in the war on terror. \nWhile US law\, including the Anti Terrorism Act\, plainly prohibits American companies from having any contact or providing any support or services to the terrorists groups\, the social media giants in Paolo Alto continue to provide their platforms to these designated organizations with impunity. The companies claim a legal defense under the Communications Decency Act of 1996\, which they contend provides them with blanket immunity for the extremist posts and terrorist incitement on their platforms. There is a need to aggressively challenge the social media companies for their role in aiding and abetting terrorist organizations and hold them accountable for their documented provision of material support to the designated groups. \nThese details have recently come to light with the release of the book Harpoon: Inside the Covert War Against Terrorism’s Money Masters\, co-authored by Nitsana Darshan Leitner of the Shurat HaDin Law Center. The book addresses how the terror groups are utilizing American social media. \nPlease join us to hear about efforts to combat terror on the social media platforms\, as well as an update on the Taylor Force Act\, which strives to cut another kind of material support – funding to imprisoned Palestinian terrorists. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Nitsana Darshan-Leitner\n\nIsraeli activist attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner has been leading the legal fight against terror financing\, the anti-Israel boycott campaigns (BDS) and combating the multitude of lawfare tactics utilized against the Jewish State by its enemies. As the president of the Israel based civil rights organization\, Shurat HaDin–Israel Law Center\, she has represented hundreds of terror victims in legal actions against terror organizations and their supporters. Ms. Darshan-Leitner has successfully recovered more than two hundred million dollars in compensation on their behalf. \nMs. Darshan-Leitner is the co-author of the book Harpoon: Inside the Covert War Against Terrorism’s Money Masters\, along with New York Times best-selling author Samuel M. Katz.  She and her associates specialize in tracking the assets and bank accounts of terror groups and legally obstructing and restraining their funds. They have become known by banks\, legal organizations and outlaw regimes around the world as the leading authority and resource on stopping the movement of global terror financing. Today they represent hundreds of terror victims in lawsuits against Hamas\, Islamic Jihad\, the PLO\, The Palestinian Authority\, Hezbollah\, Iran\, Syria\, Egypt\, North Korea\, UBS\, and the Lebanese Canadian Bank. The cases\, being litigated in Israeli\, American\, Canadian and European courts\, allow the victims of terrorism to fight back. \nAbout Stuart Force \nStuart Force is the father of Taylor Force\, a former U.S. Army officer and Vanderbilt University graduate who was tragically stabbed to death in Israel in March 2016 by a Palestinian terrorist.  The Taylor Force Act\, named in his memory\, was passed by the House of Representatives in December\, 2017\, with overwhelming bipartisan support.  The Act conditions aid to the Palestinian Authority until it takes steps to end acts of violence against the U.S. and Israeli citizens\, including publicly condemning acts of terrorism\, and helping to bring Palestinian terrorists to justice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Time for a Change in Paradigm: The Israel Victory Project
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Gregg Roman\, Director Middle East Forum\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, May 25\, 2017\n12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.\nThe U.S. Capitol Visitor Center\nHVC-200\nWashington\, D.C. \nLunch to be served (all dietary laws observed) \nRSVP BY CLICKING HERE \nFor those who are unable to attend or are outside of the DC area\, please join us live on EMET’s Facebook  page: https://www.facebook.com/EMET4U/ \nPresident Trump just completed his trip to Israel\, where he reaffirmed the United States’ support for the Jewish State\, and declared that Israelis and Palestinians are “ready for peace.” \nTo discuss the Trump Administration’s “peace” plans\, EMET is proud to host Gregg Roman\, the Director of the Middle East Forum (MEF).  Mr. Roman will also be discussing the Congressional Israel Victory Caucus (CIVC)\, that the MEF has helped establish on Capitol Hill.  The caucus’ goal: to introduce a new U.S. approach to Israel-Palestinian relations. \nSince 1988\, every U.S. administration has invested in Israeli-Palestinian diplomacy\, but nearly three decades of failure strongly suggest that Israeli-Palestinian negotiations need rethinking. The caucus calls for a new U.S. approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict\, ending the emphasis on Israel making “painful concessions” and instead putting the onus on Palestinians – they must give up the goal of destroying Israel and recognize Israel as the Jewish state. \nThe result will be beneficial for both Israel (which will no longer face a rejectionist enemy) and the Palestinians (who can start to build their own polity\, economy\, society\, and culture). \nCIVC builds on ideas promoted by the Middle East Forum that are now gaining support among analysts\, in the U.S. Congress\, in the executive branch\, and in Israel. \nAbout Gregg Roman: Gregg Roman functions as the chief operations officer for the Middle East Forum\, responsible for day-to-day management\, communications\, and financial resource development. Mr. Roman previously served as director of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. In 2014\, he was named one of the ten most inspiring global Jewish leaders by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. He previously served as the political advisor to the deputy foreign minister of Israel and worked for the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Mr. Roman is a frequent speaker at venues around the world\, often appears on television\, and has written for the Hill\, the Forward\, the Albany Times-Union\, and other publications. He attended American University in Washington\, D.C.\, and the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya\, Israel\, where he studied national security studies and political communications.
