EMET Invites You to Attend Our Annual 9/11 Memorial Seminar featuring: Debra Burlingame, Stephen Coughlin and Kyle Shideler
Twelve years after the horrific events of 9/11, and the United State appears no closer to understanding the forces that attacked us that fateful day. Our failure to understand the ideology of the enemy has translated directly into American policy failures throughout the Middle East, including in Egypt, Libya, and most recently Syria. Opinion polls likewise reflect a lack of trust by Americans in the ability of their government to make competent strategic choices regarding the region, such as their ability to vet the intentions of Syrians rebels, many of whom are allied with Al Qaeda. What has happened to American foreign policy that we have reached this perilous position? After more than a decade involved in a “War Against Terror” are we any closer to victory? Are we safer?
EMET’s panel will examine the events in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and the war on terror, and attempt to explain how we reached this position, and where we go from here.
