(Washington D.C.)- The Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET) is proud to endorse a Congressional letter authored by Representative Mike Kelly and 25 cosponsors urging President Obama to seek the removal of a United Nations official with a history of uttering vile anti-Semitic and anti-American propaganda. The letter was released on Friday April 26th.
Richard Falk is the United Nations Special Rapporteur on “the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967”, and has a history of anti-Semitic and Anti-American statements. Falk’s latest outrage regarded the Boston Marathon bombing, where he accused the United States of seeking “global domination” which led to “all kinds of resistance”, his description of the terror attack perpetrated against the citizens of Boston. Falk is also known for displaying anti-Semitic cartoons on his personal website, and offering endorsements of 9/11 conspiracy theorists.
“This is unfortunately the kind of behavior we’ve come to expect from Richard Falk,” said Sarah Stern, President and Founder of EMET, “His tendencies were already well known when he was appointed to this position over strident opposition from the Pro-Israel community. It’s time for all Americans, of every persuasion, to understand Falk’s vile positions, and declare them unacceptable.”
The congressional letter, which is addressed to President Obama, calls for the President to instruct the American Ambassador to the UN’s Human Rights Council Eileen, Donahoe, to take steps to see Falk removed.
“The United States can exert tremendous leverage upon the United Nations,” continued Stern, “We provide a large portion of its budget. We graciously host the United Nations on American soil. It’s time to exert some of that leverage and make clear to the United Nations that we won’t tolerate officials who use their official positions to make such outrageous allegations, essentially blaming terrorist events in which innocent civilians are killed and maimed on the United States or her one solid, democratic, ally, in the Middle East, the nation of Israel . Terrorism is never justifiable, period.”
