EMET Applauds Letter by Chairs Comer and Foxx, Continued Congressional Push for Accountability on Antisemitism and Support of Hamas

(August 22, 2024, Washington, DC) EMET welcomes a recent letter sent by Chairs of the House Committees on Oversight and Accountability, and Education and the Workforce, Reps. James Comer and Virginia Foxx to Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen, reiterating their request for Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) on groups associated with illegal and antisemitic activity on America’s streets and college campuses.

Since October 7th, various groups have staged often-violent demonstrations, including in the US Capitol. Protesters have torn American flags from flag poles and burned them, and waved the flags of organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah – US designated foreign terrorist organizations. On college campuses, protesters have intimidated Israeli and Jewish students, denying their right to receive education free from harassment and discrimination. Currently, in Chicago, protesters outside the DNC hold up signs calling for “victory to the Palestinian resistance”, justifying Hamas’ attacks on Israeli civilians. It is high time these groups are held accountable for their actions.

EMET works every day to ensure that combating antisemitism and support and understanding of Israel’s cause remain a top priority for members of Congress.
