Capitol Hill Forum on Terrorism and Religious Violence

CALL TO ACTION: Help Stop Religious Persecution & Violence in Nigeria

On April 22nd, 2026, EMET joined forces with the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON) to host the Capitol Hill Forum on Terrorism and Religious Violence. We heard from roughly a dozen prominent speakers, all of whom are experts in their field of work and strong advocates for religious tolerance and freedom in Nigeria and around the globe.

Now it is YOUR turn to take action. While raising awareness for this issue is the first step, urging our elected officials to pursue action is the next. Today, we call on you to reach out to your representatives in the US House & Senate and ask them to support the following bills:

House – H.R.7457 – Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026

Senate – S.2747 – Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025

These bills, introduced by Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey & Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, not only promote safety and security for communities being subject to atrocities in Nigeria, but also hold our own government accountable for pursuing constructive policies on this issue.

Want to be involved but not sure how? EMET’s Legislative team is ready to answer any questions you might have. Please email info@emetonline.org with any questions.

Together, we can push for change in Nigeria, Africa, America, & the world!

Hosted by the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON) and The Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET).
