FEATURING:

Dr. Michael Makovsky CEO and President of JINSA

About this webinar: Ever since its founding in 1948, the Israeli military has always had as a regnant part of its military philosophy that they fight all of their battles by themselves. There are a multiplicity very sound reasons for this. Among them are: the fact that Israel has never wanted any  Christian or Muslim young man or woman to die in defense of the Jewish state, which would open up the door for antisemitism; that Israel does not want to be constrained in its operational theater by the strategic aspirations of other nations; and that Israel does not have the manpower to extend itself all over the globe by joining a defense treaty with multiple nations, and still defend its own borders and its own people.

However, on June 12, 2019, Senator Lindsey Graham had  made a rather startling announcement at our EMET dinner that he would like to see a defense treaty between Israel and the United States, which was very warmly received by the audience. In a recent interview with Ambassador Ron Dermer, Sarah Stern, EMET’s Founder and President, together with Benjamin Weil, EMET’s  Director of the Project for Israel’s National Security, the Ambassador of Israel told us that the government of Israel was indeed, in favor of such a narrowly defined defense treaty.

Dr. Michael Makovsky is the CEO and President of Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA)
