Palestine Betrayed – Event Summary

January 25, 2012 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Author Efraim Karsh is one of the leading scholars of Middle East history, and discussed his book “Palestine Betrayed” which demolishes some of the classic myths surrounding Israel’s founding, including false claims that the Arabs were forced out by the Jews during the 1948 fighting, and that the Arab were willing to compromise with the new state.

The Middle East is a region with a long memory, and steeped in history, and knowing that history is an important step towards a better Mideast Policy.

Mr. Karsh has published extensively on the Middle East, strategic and military affairs, and European neutrality. He is the author of fifteen books, including Palestine Betrayed (Yale); Islamic Imperialism: A History (Yale); Empires of the Sand: the Struggle for Mastery in the Middle East 1798-1923 (Harvard); Fabricating Israeli History: The “New Historians” (Routledge); The Gulf Conflict 1990-1991 (Princeton); Saddam Hussein (Free Press); Arafat’s War (Grove); and Neutrality and Small States (Routledge).
