The Endowment for Middle East Truth is proud to host a phone seminar with Mosab Hassan Yousef, the oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member and leader of Hamas. In a recent interview, Mosab, who has rejected Hamas and later converted to Christianity, said “Israel is fighting on behalf of the free world.” During EMET’s unique phone seminar, Mosab will reveal the inner workings of Hamas, share his eye-witness account of Hamas’ brutal treatment of its own people, and talk about his personal life story that led him to leave his family, friends, and homeland to where he is today.
Mosab Hassan Yousef was born in Ramallah in 1978. His father, Sheikh Hassan Yousef, is a founder of the internationally recognized terrorist organization Hamas, responsible for countless suicide bombings and other deadly attacks against Israel. Mosab was an integral part of the terrorist group, for which he was imprisoned several times by the Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence service. While in an Israeli prison, Mosab was approached about becoming a spy for the Shin Bet. Initially, Mosab accepted the offer with the idea that he would betray Israel in the hopes that he could use the role to protect his father and family. Later, as Mosab saw the hypocrisy within Hamas and became a Christian, he used the position to save both Israeli and Palestinian lives. Mosab worked as a double agent within Hamas for nearly 10 years. He became a vital intelligence asset for the Israeli government while serving side-by-side with his father within the upper ranks of Hamas. After a chance encounter with a British tourist, Mosab started a six-year quest that jeopardized Hamas, endangered his family and threatened his life. He has since embraced the Christian faith and sought political asylum in America. His story was revealed in the 2008 Fox News documentary “Escape from Hamas.” Mosab’s book Son of Hamas reveals new information about the terrorist organization and unveils the truth behind his own secret role. And Mosab describes his surreal journey to a new faith that instructed him to love his enemies.
In 2010, Mosab was the recipient of one of EMET’s coveted “Speaker of the Truth” Awards. EMET is very proud to say that our efforts had played a substantial part in obtaining political asylum for Mosab to remain in the United States.
