In recent years there have been many new energy discoveries in the Mediterranean. Additionally, geopolitical developments have been playing a big role in the region, requiring US attention. The US foreign policy has supported development of energy and strategic alliances in the region including the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Energy Act introduced both in the House and in the Senate.
