EMET Thanks Representatives Mike Lawler and Jared Moskowitz for the Introduction of the Stand with Israel Act

(August 22, 2024, Washington, DC) EMET expresses its profound gratitude for the introduction of the Stand with Israel Act, which seeks to “require the withholding of US funding to [United Nations] agencies that expel, downgrade, suspend, or otherwise restrict the participation of the State of Israel.” The UN is the prime example of fervent anti-Israel hatred in international institutions. Without strong US rejection of such bias, UN demonization of Israel will become further legitimized in the international community.

From condemning Israel more than any other country to setting up Commissions of Inquiry using the blood libels of apartheid and “nazi-like crimes,” the U.N. has clearly demonstrated that it has sacrificed its objectivity for anti-Israel hatred.

By withdrawing funds from the U.N., the United States, the UN’s largest backer, can send a strong message that such unjustified targeting of the only Jewish and democratic country in the Middle East will no longer be tolerated. The bipartisan Stand with Israel Act has already garnered bipartisan support with 23 original cosponsors, of which 21 are Republicans and two are Democrats. EMET sincerely hopes this legislation will pass and become a crucial step in combatting international antisemitism.
