The Final Say – with Sarah Stern

Tune in at 34:40 to hear Sarah Stern discuss the protests against the opera “The Death of Klinghoffer.” Sparked by the content of the opera, these protests rally against the justification of terrorism, anti-Semitism, and the murder of an American Jew. As Sarah expresses during this segment “…although we do believe in artistic freedom, we feel that certain things are beyond the pale. Would there be an opera portraying James Earl Ray, the murderer of Martin Luther King in a sympathetic light, or Lee Harvey Oswald the murderer of John F. Kennedy in a sympathetic light? No, but somehow it is acceptable to have the murderers of an elderly Jewish gentleman in a wheelchair in a sympathetic light.” Leon Klinghoffer is a victim rather than a villain.
