The Kurds The Kurds are one of the indigenous peoples of the Middle East and the region’s fourth-largest ethnic group, with an estimated 30-40 million people. They live in large numbers in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey and about 30,000 in Armenia. There are also about 2 million who live in Europe.
